What did you do to your V today?

Solid mounts are universally known to be noisy. This is not news or a wonder. I welcome any noise. I do not welcome any un warranted slop to cause excessive noise but yes, typically a metal or solid mount will give one more noise.

Washed it, for the first time in too long. Clay barred the hood, as I could feel while drying it that it was not smooth. Obviously the whole car needs it, but it was already dark and I still needed to clean the wheels. I really need to bite the bullet and pay someone to come detail it, as I just never get around to doing it.

Well one source of noise was a broken isolator on the "X" pipe support.
Here is a replacement if anyone needs the part #.

If you lubricate Delrin it’s ruined. It’ll squeak and creak. Rattles are caused by insufficient preload—torque properly with weight on the wheels. The only problems I have with the design are the non-stainless side bolts (easily fixed) and the “eyeball plate” which is a hair narrower than needed to completely seal up the round opening for the shock in the body of the car. Even the slightest lack of an airtight seal dramatically increases wind noise in the trunk, which is transmitted (to a lesser extent) to the cabin.

Replaced both vibration isolators and ordered 4 new exhaust hangers.
It never fails, one of the isolators just fought me on the install.
The old hangers are kinda stretched and probably contributed to the isolator failures.

And the double truth from this car hating hard compounds. I bought some Nokian zLine and the compound rating is for wear and making tires spin for no reason. Spinnin' ain't winnin' and the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S I have on here now are the true Cadillac of street tyres. Fantastic, in the dry, in the rain, they are amazing. I drove down to Florida, did some passes at a strip, went on a track day at The Firm and sloshed about as well as the car could give me in the stock and aged form it is and came back to good ol' PA. About 3,000 miles on the new Sport 4S and I cannot find a negative besides the cost. But you get what you pay for in this case.
Got front upper shock mounts for my V. Moog K160432.

I have a noise in my upper front end, sounds like weight forcing movement for a quick second and once the weight shifts back, a return noise is issued and no further noises incurred during 99% normal driving. I thought it was the UCA BJ. The noise only replicates going over an angle over speed bumps or rough speed bumps. This tells me something is being tweaked. I tested both with a large pry bar and neither wiggle. Same for LCA BJ and front and rear inner bushings. This is the only spot up top that I see a potential problem for worn out rubber. I do not truly know. Difficult to tell from up top, and I would need to remove the entire assembly to diagnose. If I do that, I want parts to replace. I saw Dorman had the same part but the second I saw Moog, I fired the order off ASAP.

Yes and yes. I’ve chased vibration and balace issues as long as I’ve had this car. Bought it used in July 2012 and had the dealer put them on before I bought it. They were the optional tires for mileage supposedly. The first set was replaced for broken belts when balancing them turned out to be impossible. It was ok until my accident the next summer and one needed to be replaced. The car didn’t have vibes when the snow tires are on so I know it’s them. My supposition is that the hard compound and goofy tread transmits vibrations that get amplified by the chassis harmonics. They were a great tire on my wife’s old corolla.
