Had a handy-man at the house installing a new hot water heater, so I took advantage of having an extra body around. He and I moved my spare T56 down into the basement and up onto a clear workbench so I can get to work on rebuilding it. (Ideally I would do it in the garage, but it looks like a bomb went off in there , whereas the basement is pretty orderly and has an 8' long work bench I can use.)

Made a bronze shifter cup with the right specs, so that all fits together inside the tranny, checked also shifting and it works good but the rest slop side by side comes from the 6mm diam hardened pin in the connector from the shifter linkage arm, there is the hole from the linkage coming out the trans slightly bigger 0.05mm, rest is now slop free...
And the CAGS deleted forever...

Since you did the CAGS delete, be aware that you either need to splice a 2.2k resistor in the end of your harness or get a CAGS resistor fuse. Otherwise you'll get a diagnostic code, even if CAGS has been tuned out. You can also Google "CAGS resistor" to see some of the implementations other people have come up with.
Lastly, get rid of the snap ring on the shifter linkage and replace the solid pin with a stainless roll pin. That'll eliminate a fair amount of the side-to-side slop. You'll never get it all out, but this will help.

Ok, the cags was additional deleted in my mail order tune and I have the cags eliminate also connected in line, so there were 2 systems working against the cags, one will help, I hope so...
Yes, I would also try a roll pin, but my chief on work tell me, it would be too thin, should use a solid pin, how long and hard did u use your roll pin now in the car?

This is just a build up of some of the stuff I have done over the last few days.
Fully removeable ashtray wide band mount. I am making and selling these so if you want one pm me.
Painted satin black stalk, along with homemade shift boot out of black suede.
got my powdercoated wheels on, just need to install my coilovers a assortment of bushings and some other junk. Soon I will be tig welding up a full exhaust for the car.
