Sound of a diff going out? Or paranoia?
Hello. So I've owned my V for about 2 months now and I've noticed (more often when I first hit the road and it's cold) a slight whining from the diff that only occurs when I'm giving it gas. I've read to expect some noise just going down the highway from it, but is extra noise from accelerating to be expected? I had the car on a lift and inspected all the bushings, everything looks good and the diff bushing has been swapped with an aftermarket one(was solid all the way around). The driver's side CV seemed to have a little more play than the passenger's side, but not much. Should I be concerned? I saw a new 06 diff on ebay for 900, but I don't want to go buying a differential and then this one lasting another 60k miles.

Welcome to the family.
The rear diffs suck *****, and are either broken or breaking itself. #getraglyfe
You might get another 200k out of yours, but it will never be quiet.

I was really worried about this when I first bought mine but I've never had any issues and I don't hear anything. I had a 2000 Camaro that the rear end of the line after a couple of passes on nitrous and it definitely doesn't sound like this car is making that same noise. I would keep driving and if the noise gets worse then start to worry and look for a replacement IE creative steel
