Broke my gen3 diff about a month ago, and had a nice wait on CS. Came in and bolted up with basically 0 issues. Had to bend a bit of exhaust in some spots, but otherwise perfect.

Breaking gears in for next few days and then drain\fill and going to see how the new 4.10s run. I couldn't reuse my gforce axles, so theyre up for sale. The new DSS ones are beast!!!

How did the gen 3 break? Wheel hop or hard shift? Just curious. Looks very nice. I want that for my next mod...

Gen 3 took a lot of abuse at track from hard shifts, etc... I ended up parking outside here in NYC and leaving the car in gear, only to come out and find someone up my bumper parked like that. I didn't get all of 20 feet before I heard a pop and the car stalled out. Diff smashed. I guess that was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Kristie kept everything organized for me and kept me in the loop. Helped me out bigtime.

Thank You.
It's been my pleasure, from two standpoints. Sticking with R&D process to see the project completed and helping a bunch of V owners be able to use the back of the car like the front of the car was intended.

Looking forward to posting similar pictures. My 8.8 was ordered last Friday. After breaking two inner CV's in 3 weeks, the V awaits its transplant patiently in the garage.

I already have the DSS Carbon 1 piece for stock application currently installed so I just went with the adapter to mate it to the 8.8.

Would love to see this at Baker's on the 17th and hear first hand how the install went. Can you make it?

Curious... supporting mods included (DS), what's the final price on an 8.8 swap? How many hours would/should a shop charge to complete it?

I'm about to order mine, too. I've never actually broken a diff, but I'm on my 4th, which (like its predecessors) has become noisier and noisier and has massive backlash. The 8.8" is at a local speed shop to be rebuilt (Truetrac and 3.73s), so it's time to order all the big pieces. I plan to stick with the stock driveshaft and CS's adapter.

Edit: It occurs to me that I probably should get the fuel pump recall done before I do the 8.8" swap, just so that there's nothing "extra / unusual" for the dealership to deal with back there.
