Default Getting new tires on the 07 V. What do you all recommend?

Car: 2007 CTS-V

It's getting to that time where I need to start thinking about new tires. I am thinking about getting the same size tire preferably in the 265/40/18 or even 275/40/18 range. I want to be able to have the ability to rotate tires. I know a lot of guys run 275 or even 295's out back but I don't want to do that on stock tires (damn you GM on limited wheels choices!) as aftermarket wheels are limited to non existing.

Anyone running 265 or even 275 tires on stock wheels/ride height?

Pictures would be much appreciated!

I'm running Nitto NT555 G2's. They came out in January and I'm loving them. I came from Hankook Ventus V12's and they're definitely a better tire. running 245/45 up front and 255/45 in the back. I go to rear tires at the rate of about 2 sets to every 1 for the front so I don't bother rotating, just balancing.

There's a ton of tire threads on here, I'd suggest doing some reading. You'll get far more feedback from just reading the many threads about tire setups.

anything over 265s and you're gonna be cupping the tires and adding weight. the stock wheels are only 8.5" wide.

focus on tire compound and tread pattern more than width. also, go down a size in height (ex: 245/40R18).

Yup. Definitely have used that feature hence why I'm asking for a more recent opinion from you fine folks.

This is a DD and I don't plan on doing any major racing, road course or straight line racing so tire life will be much longer than most. Just a daddy with a Caddy (quote me if you use that hahahaha).

I personally don't want to run 275's as I think that's pushing the envelope but I think I should be fine with 265's after the info I've seen one here.

thanks guys!

I've got the STS-V wheels. Stock up front 245/45/18 and 275/35/19 in rear. 275s stick pretty good below 400rwhp.

If you're looking for more meat, you could easily go 255/40 all around. I'm not sure about the 265 clearance up front, but as far as diameter, they're only slightly smaller than stock.

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
245/45-18 4.3in 13.3in 26.7in 83.8in 756 0.0%
265/40-18 4.2in 13.2in 26.3in 82.8in 765 -1.3%

Stock size is what you want. 265/40s will work fine but look ever so slightly funny unless you lower the car by same amount that you shrink the overall height. WIll you notice? Depends on how **** you are. I wouldn't have unless I'd seen stock and 265/40s side by side. Then, the decision was easy. I'll be either doing a 5 lug swap or widening the rears.

If you drive a regular amount of miles, I am really enjoying my Sumi HTR-Z IIIs. If you want the best, get the Michelins.

I second the Conti extremecontact DW...I have gone through 3 pairs on the back and 1 pair on the front and absolutely love them. I most recently replaced them with Pirelli P-zero all seasons and am not happy, would much rather have the Conti's back on.

I'm not that ****. Still debating if I actually want to lower the car or not. If the wheel well is further exposed then that might just push me over the edge lol.

I actually had to sumi III's on the 01 SS and had zero issues. I actually enjoyed them.

May end up pulling the trigger on the 265's and just rolling the dice. Worse case I'll keep them for the rear in the event that they tub up front.

I have the Extreme Contacts Dws out back and the extreme contacts DW up front, 245/45-18 all around and I like them a lot. I'm wanting to jump up to 265 or 255 out back.

265/40-18s shouldn't rub, a buddy has that setup all around on his at stock height, no issues at all.

This is what I'd do on stock wheels. Mine have stock size snows and will probably not be used for anything other than parking it in the garage all winter

Had nittos on my car when It, nitto, never had a bigger turd of a tire. Bfg,mickys or mich.

Put the all season sport comps on the v so I can actually leave town (Vegas) in the winter. Not much difference from the regular sport comps.

Careful going to a wide tire on the stock wheel. A 275 is not a smart idea on that low pro file tire. Not only will it look stupid, handling will suck.

I ran the Conti DW's on my last car, liked them a lot. I run the Michelin PSS in stock sizes on the V in the summer months, love them. Sale prices on eBay help too.
