Default First trip to the track...HOPPPPPP!

Last minute decision I met up with a few friends to make some passes down the strip.I was quite nervous of trying to run good times and not shatter these fragile diffs on the V's. When we got to the track there was alot of wind all day long..30-35kmh head wind.Anyways I made my first few passes..not really slipping the clutch out and no burnouts.I realize how much the V hops now at the track vs playing around on the street. I didnt beat on the car too hard as it was showing signs not being happy...I hand a few grinds going into 2nd,hit limiter once or twice and the odd rearend whine.

Times were poor ranging from 14.7 down to 14.0 et, 60'fts were 2.2-2.5, mph ranged from 104-109mph. Im sure if I had let some pressure down in the tires and slipped the clutch some more I could have a better 60'ft but that hop is something serious.Looking at doing the CS upgrades sooner than later if Im going to track it in the future and run it any harder than that for launches.Heres the long..very long video of my passes and a few others at the track.

Nothing crazy at all..1500-2200 maybe and it was hopping pretty good so i backed off slightly from there.I was about 1.5hr away from home so not breaking the diff was the goal.

That 109mph trap at least says your engine is running as it should when you hit your shifts right. You always leave the track looking to go back and do better but once you're there you realize the V1 just isn't that fun... being able to launch decently hard is the funnest part of the 1/4 mile and seeing how your car does after doing some power mods.

You are right, this is my daily afterall but I had to see where it sits and how well i can manage the car at the track.I was doing consistent 108mph so i knew I had my shifts down good..even with pausing to not grind 2nd.But that 60'ft was bothering me lol with all the wheel hop.But I wont be chasing too much to fix it other than making the car ride as best it can with the Cs stuff for bushings etc.

My transam is the drag car that I use for chasing numbers and other cars.Still fun to try something different even if its slow.

Did you air the tires down? My car was less squirrely down the strip with the rear tires aired down to about 22psi. High 12's should be possible with your mph on a V.

What are you trying to cover up with all those air fresheners?

No I didnt want to air the tires down.I just wanted some baseline slips as it sat.

I have the freshners cuz the previous owner was a heavy smoker. Ive had the car interior steamed 2 days prior to the video but its still lingering smell.I have asthma so they help me cope as i keep trying to get rid of it.

You'll have to replace or reupholster the interior panels because their open cell foam backing is going to trap that gross stuff forever. I did the latter for about $400 all in. Make sure you get some closed cell foam for futureproofing.

My first car had belonged to a smoker. A fair amount of windows down driving and those canister odor absorbers with the gel under the driver's seat took care of the smell pretty well. I'd switch it out for a new one every few months and eventually didn't need it.

I gotta try that canister thing. My V has a faint odor on humid days but since it lives in the garage and doesn't get baked in the heat anymore the leather smell is winning out. My cloth Subaru Outback is a killer if it sits closed up on a hot or rainy day. Asthma guy too.
