4 speed auto then? This car needs something like this to compare to what BMW and Benz offers right?

nope...no auto period from my understanding. Besides, 6-speed stick is far more fun. i'd never buy a car like this with an auto. its a DRIVER's car, and as such, personally, i dont think it should have an auto

Learn to drive stick, it's WELL worth it. Autos rob you of power, efficiency and driver input. The STS-V will only come with an auto.

i can drive a stick, but in dc/baltimore traffic, last thing you want for a daily driver is a stick. thats why i got an auto vette.

I know how . Reason why I asked is that this car is on par with Europes best. To have a six speed only car in a four door only makes no sense. They sold F-body with autos.

if any "auto" needs to come with it it should just be a sequential....thats what they need. if they ever mated an auto with an LS6 i would be so pissed. id say take the sacrafice and drive the stick. its not that big of a deal.

If auto is a must-have, look at the STS-V.

The CTS V in six speed manual is awesome but not everyone who drives in metro areas wants to deal with a stick shift on a daily driver basis..

The SRT8 300C is a hell of an option that GM needs to realize when it redesigns the CTS V. The msrp of the SRT8 should also be a wake up call to GM as well when it redesigns the CTS V.

I prefer to buy GM products even as daily drivers but GM's not competitive to DC's product offering.

If GM were asking me..(which they are not) I'd like to buy a CTS V with a dual clutch sequential shifter.

Actually if GM wanted to they could have a single clutch SMG unit fit in the existing transmission tunnel but GM is not thrilled with the limitations that single clutch sequentials have in traffic/daily driving situations.

So GM offers the CTS V as a halo car...Six speed manual only.

Not a lot of unit sales but great for the image of the entire cadillac line...

Dramatically lowering the average buyers age too..

GM has interest in the Dual clutch sequential shift technology as you can see during a Dave Hill interview over at www.crossedflags.com (video section)

You'll see this dual clutch sequential transmission as an option on the new Porsche 911 twin turbo because its the fastest way around the track....It makes emissions standards easier to meet and most importantly for the manufacturers .............allows for better GAS MILEAGE. The dual clutch sequential also offers seamless automatic mode. Unlike single clutch sequentials which really can't duplicate the transparent driving environment of a automatic torque convertor transmission

Add those all these benefits of the DUAL clutch sequential and its a slam dunk over traditional automatics, single clutch sequentials and even manual tranny's.

A dereviative of that PDK dual clutch unit is both the Bugatti seven speed dual clutch unit and the lowly Audi A3 as well as the Audi TT.

Its a 1200 dollar option on the A3 compared to the manual.

Thats about the cost of a traditional torque convertor automatic.

The next high performance car I buy to replace my current C5 Z06 will have sequential dual clutch shifting capability. I don't know when...I do hope its a GM product though. Hope it makes it to the Corvette Z06 as well as the next CTS V.

Both world class sports cars and sports sedans from GM deserve the best transmission available.

I never really understand this BS about manuals being better than sticks, you're a ***** if you drive auto, manuals are for "real drivers", blah... blah... blah...

Luxury cars are meant to be "driven", and driving doesn't mean you're working gears constantly, unless you're on the track. Sitting in traffic, going between 1st and 2nd every couple of seconds IS NOT "driving" IT'S NOT FUN.

Sure, it's fun to "bang gears", but the times that I do that are few and far between. I'd rather put money into bulletproofing a tranny/stall/tc and be able to get the performance I periodically want without the constant headache I don't.

GM seems to be consistently doing a great job nowadays at driving people to other manufactures. Great job!

yeah i never quite liked the way manuals felt and for that every car i purchase will probably be automatic. If anything there should always be a choice of auto and stick in every car, because there are people loyal to the stick shift trans, and there are people like me who just see the practicality of a slushbox and want to stick to it no matter if it is an f-body or any other classification of cars. Hell most of the guys around me with sticks drive shitty hondas and escorts, who's a *****?
