Belt slippage is tough to combat. I've heard of people using VHT (traction compound for tires) on their belts with good results. Not too sure how messy it is. I plan to use some if the 2.6 starts slipping.

Can I ask how you know it is slipping?

P.S. - I've also seen pulleys that have "cogs" machined into them so that they better grab the belt. Not sure where to get them, but a competent machine shop could likely modify yours.

I've seen them actually spray it on the belt.

Are you sure your belt isn't jumping a groove? I had the ground up rubber you're talking about and had a belt that was trying to jump a groove. Replaced the belt with one that is "cogged" - or doesn't have continuous ribs - and all has been well since.

VHT or any tire compound is very sticky stuff. I actually intend to prep the belt well before install. It could be quite messy - but I know plenty of paxton/vortech/etc. style s/c guys using this trick. Not sure how long it lasts though.

I'm a bad boy - I don't - I'm sorry. I went to a Napa store and the guys let me look through what they had.

Dayco makes a new belt called a "polycog". It supposedly is more flexible and provides better contact with the pulleys. They also claim it runs cooler and lasts longer. I bought a serpentine belt of this type for an SUV when the old belt was slipping and it has worked great for the last 3,000 miles.
