ProCharger -vs- Maggie?
#21
We typically see an increase of 140 rwhp with an ATI ProCharger at 8 psi of boost. You won't get this kind of power with an N/A engine unless you go with a big cam, which kills off your bottom end power.
Check out this 346 ci C5 Corvette, that has an ATI ProCharger D-1SC. It is producing 740 rwhp and the customer took it on a vacation and got 28 mpg!

I have a magnusson On my V and I really like it! Clean, neat, great manners, excellent gains, Heat will almost never be an issue on the street, road course maybe... (meth kit $399.) I have never had a procharger on a car before, only on a boat, I have heard they have made considerable improvements since then, so I won't share my experiences. I know people are getting large gains with them, if your looking for 15# forget the maggie. I would love to see both superchargers on the dyno at 8#'s, just to see how they do against each other.

Has anyone heard of any of these dealer installed supercharger packages? The car I'm interested in has a dealer installed Procharger, and I'd like to hear more about anyones experiences with them. I basically need to know if they're legit or not, and if I can expect a decent tune from a dealership.
This is my main hangup in not buying the car yet.

Maggie will give you more off idle...which isn't what you want in a V. A Procharger won't hit as hard from a dig but will be nasty from a roll. Many stock internal LS6's are putting out 550 plus RWHP with centrifugals which is hard to do with a N/A motor without a big cam and big cubes.
I would do a procharger but have a hard time paying the Vette tax...$8300 would have me considering a twin turbo kit instead.

I'd almost be willing to bet a Centrifugal Supercharged LS6 would put down better 60ft times and ETs than a Maggied one, but the Maggied car would have a better trap speed, which is indicative of more power than the suspension and tires can handle. The same thing happens on Supercharged Z06s: Huge trap speeds, but worse than stock 60ft times.
Just remember that it's rare to do a full 1/4 mile run on the street- most stoplight encounters consist of 100ft before you back it down for fear of the law. That's the kind of power you're looking for.
