ProCharger -vs- Maggie?

ProCharger -vs- Maggie?
Excuse the ignorance. Some of you replied to my thread about the modded V I'm looking at, and I appreciate all the input/answers I've received on this site. I'm an enthusiast with very little aftermarket experience - so again - please excuse the Newbiness.
The particular V I'm looking has a dealer installed Procharger.
* Is a ProCharger different than a Maggie (both just brand names of the same thing)?
* What are the differences (typical gains, efficiency, cost, etc)?
* Pros and cons of each?
* Other FI options?
Any other FI info, links, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the CTS-V's above in which we installed our ATI ProCharger pckage that we developed. An ATI ProCharger is a centrifical type of supercharger, and a maggie is a positive displacement (Roots) type. Bob

I'm not asking you to pimp your gear, but why should I install your package instead of a Maggie?

The ATI ProChargers run cooler, and produce more mid range and upper horsepower, right where you need it.

Based solely on my limited research and information - the Procharger will have more potential, be more efficient (for power) and not get heat soaked so bad. I'm planning to put one on my car.

Centrifugal Superchargers are more thermally efficient, but the boost builds exponentially in relation to crank RPMs (therefore your boost peak is right at redline). They provide greater mid and top end power, as opposed to the Roots type which comes on hard but runs out of breath in the upper RPMs.
With the prodigious amount of torque this car comes with from the factory, I'd go with the Procharger for several reasons:
-Easier on the diff
-Easier to launch
-Less heat soak
-Cleaner install
-Better top end
Hope that helps.

as for forced induction you have 4 options
1. roots type - magnacharger/eaton
2. centrifugal - procharger/vortech/paxton/powerdyne
3. twin screw - whipple/kenne bell
4. turbocharger - turbonetics/ aps etc.

Have you heard of any of these dealer installed packages? I'm assuming a little extra tuning from a reputable shop would be in order.

408, 422, 427, 434 would be much sicker, impressive, sound better, more manly (lol), more true to the sport(muscle cars), and probably make more streetable power IMO then boosting the n/a engine of n/a engines......

how do you figure.....8300 installed for a procharger?....you could get a crate 408 for what 5k? sell your ls6 for 3k? and youd have 6300 left before you hit the superchargers budget.....and HAVE WAY MORE POWER. gader kad errrrrrr....

5K? where? payless engines? It would have shitty internals and alot of cubes... Lets not forget the install and swapping of all of the external parts either... Not only will you have a 408 with cheap parts but you wont be able to take it off and get some kind of resale out of the car... Procharger is a one day project at best, and its easier than swapping a whole motor and selling mine.
