My cousin has found a great deal on a 04 Burgundy Convertible Cobra. It only has exhaust work done to it; but everything else is bone stock. What can I do to keep up/beat this car? Besides putting NO2 or any other FI type of setup.

If you can drive and you have basic intake and exhaust. Just drive your little heart out. Thats what I do. Hell I pulled dead even with a 06 C6 to 160 mph Saturday night. From the looks of it he had exhaust and intake and a great looking girl friend.

I have had both recently. My '04 Red Cobra Coupe (damn do I miss that car) had CAI, pulley, tune and exhaust - 393 RWHP. Compared to my stock '05 CTS-V there is definitely a difference. The Cobra hit like a train when you nailed it at any RPM and pulled scary hard to red line. The pull was harder than the CTS-V at any RPM below 4000. The CTS-V torque above 4000 feels stronger. The Cobra really likes to spin and hop so if you get out smooth you may get him. Also if he has the stock shifter you may get him on a blown shift. The Ford shifter is such a piece of junk it makes the Caddy shifter look like race hardware. It he rolls out and then rolls on the power say good bye because you will not catch him.
I won more races in my Cobra than my '68 Corvette big block car.

Yeah that's the only thing that I would have is the weight advantage; which should just about make our hp/lb ratio about even.

Didn't really wanna get into the FI stuff; but that may be my only option. The car is still at the dealer getting an inspection done; so he'll be able to drive it sometime today. If all goes well; I will prolly drive down to south to check it out. It will give me a reason to drive the V.

Just race him on a road course. After he uses the brakes a couple of times they will be smoking and he will have to pull over to cool down.
Had this happen yesterday, I think he was wanting to show how much power his Cobra had and after a couple of turns I could smell brakes. Brakes in my car were just warm to the touch. When we all came in for a break, the instructor was asking whose brakes we were smelling.
