Standing 1 Mile Event in SoFlo!!!
EDIT, EVENT IS STANDING 1 MILE EVENT, NOT 1/4 MILE!!!!
The event takes place on Sunday, October 11th at the Dade Collier Airport, off Tamiami Trail.
Here is the LS1Tech thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/florida-m...0-11-09-a.html
Here is the homepage: http://milemarker-1.com/
I just need to confirm I have no prior commitments, but I think I will be there, maybe with both cars. This is a great event, as you do not have to worry about the diff breaking, as opposed to go to run an 1/8 or 1/4 mile event. Even as a spectator I am sure you will see some impressive performances. Looking forward to see some of you guys there, even if it means a little traveling. This could also double as a V meet,,,

I wonder if you could get the V into 5th gear in a standing mile?
My guess would be yes, 147 mph.

Thanks for opening up my questions for this event:
1) V1 is limited to 163mph, is this within reach given my 600HP?
2) If so, can 163mph be surpassed with no factory tune and additional HP?
3) I am thinking of fueling up with 108 octane, will this get me more MPH?
4) What are the free mods? Turned-in mirrors? Remove spare tire? Take out back seat? No chocolate for a month? Air pressure for tires? I heard drag radials do not make a difference.
I may also get my C6 down there, I know it will do better than a V, but I would like to set a record for the V1, as any MPH may do, as to my knowledge no one has done such an event.

Does anyone out there have the brain power to figure out what speeds the V1 should hit at the 1/4 mile (i guess around 115-120mph for mine), the 1/2 mile marker, the 3/4 mile marker and the 1-mile mark?
Also, if I were to hit 160+mph, does anyone has a guess at how much track I need to bring it back down to zero without pushing the brakes to their limit, as at 4,000lbs this is a concern.

1) I would think so. I took a look at the results from the texas mile (http://www.texasmile.net/results/Oct...leResults.html), from last year, and while they don't list HP for the cars, the 3 GTOs were about 160mph-ish. A GC-SRT8 was at 150. Most of the cars there are modified in some regard, but it gives you a very rough idea.
2) I think fuel shutoff is set to 167, so you aren't going any faster than that unless you change the tune.
3) Won't make a difference unless you tune the car to run on it, or if you are getting some knock retard right now, with your current tune.
4) Get out the painters tape, and tape up all the forward dacing seams. Also check with the organizer to see if you can tape over the grill. I'd check on the tire pressure with someone that has experience. I would *think* you'd want it just a hair under the recommended, so it doesn't intially get the rubber hot from being underinflated, and so that it doesn't overinflate to dangerous levels when you are balling at 160+. Whatever you do, MAKE SURE YOUR TIRES ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION.

I did some quick math....you should exceed 163, but there are SEVERAL factors which will play into this....mainly - will the course be situated so there is a tail wind or a head wind.....but either way (unless the head wind is unusually strong....you should surpass 163)

Okay, glad I can go 163MPH, I am hoping to exceed that, does anyone know the top recorded speed for a V---please do not tell me about Lund's Cadillac CTS run at the Bonneville Salt Flats, as that is not a V, and was not done on a budget. One concern is that my left rear rim took some damage when a stud broke, some damage but not much, you have to live dangerously so I guess I qualify. Who is going to make it down, this is a great opportunity to showcase your 4,000+ (5,000+ if you bring your two sisters-in-law) pound monster. The event is only 30 minutes from the Keys, you can plan a vacation with the Mrs., I think everyone should show up, we can start a fight afterwards with the Pinto/Vega crowd and declare ourselves the badarses of the event,,,

I'm semi-planning on attending the Texas Mile in October this year. I haven't fully decided yet, but there are usually a lot of badass cars at that event and I'd just like to see what mine can do.
