I would install that in the trunk right after the Bose amp. That converts a high level to a low level RCA. Just pull right out of the Bose amp and then into the new amp from the LOC.
How would it sound if you just took an amp that accepted high level input? That's what I was going to try and if that sounds like **** then install a LOC.

Your second paragraph is exactly what I was hoping to accomplish. I am curious to see if there is a way to "chain" the new, sub amp into the existing Bose amp without having to use a "speaker wire to RCA" unit......
Any ideas?

Do you guys think that just upgrading the sub and keeping the stock amp running it would be worth anything?
After looking at the magnet on that weak a$$ sub last night, it surely couldn't hurt!
I may try just replacing the stock sub with, lets say, a Kicker 10" free air and see how it sounds.....then if it isn't enough, buy a amp to run the "new" sub.
What do y'all think? Anybody try this?

Anyone try running an amplifier off of the input from headunit to the bose amp in trunk?
I was told by a local shop that this method would get distortion?

The quality of sound might improve but the loudness of it will stay the same.....

I used a high low converter and mounted my amp under the package tray. You will have to get some MDF to mount to the package tray and then mount the speaker to that.

What sub is that? Running it free air?
Also, thanks for the pics of the wiring, but can you explain exactly how you did it and what you used (speaker wire to RCA components, etc.)?
Thanks in advance,

How did you wire in your sub amp to the existing Bose amp to get an audio signal and to avoid the distortion issues mentioned above?
How did you tie into the stock stereo (or did you tie into an aftermarket head unit)?

Like I said, I ran the original sub woofer speaker wires to the amplifier input (speaker level/high input) and then ran the output of the amp to the new subwoofer.
No added distortion.
Also, if your trying to make a CTS-V an audio "shrine", forget it.
However the OEM sub doesn't even make a good doorstop.
Here is a good supply house for drivers:
