Default V turns over but won't Fire

2005 CTS-V
Drove it to work normally this morning, but went to start it at lunch and it turns over strongly, but won't fire.

Tried disconnecting the battery for a while. No change
Put in my code reader. No codes.
Checked fuel pump fuse under rear seat. Looks fine

However, I cannot hear the fuel pump priming when I put the key in the ON position. Can you normally hear it? I tried it with the rear seat removed. I can hear the fuse box under the rear seat on the passenger side click, then a smaller click 2 seconds later. I assume that is to prime the fuel pump I don't hear any other sounds from the back.

Go!

If you dont hear the pump actually run...even with the seat off...but you can hear the relay click. Pump is shot. Imo go under the hood and see if there is fuel pressure in the rail, you can do that by using something pointy ti press in the shrader valve on the rail.

I'm guessing fuel pump as well if you can't hear it.

You should hear the pump run.

A # of people have torched the terminal connection on the top of the pump.

Sucks to fix.

Well that sucks. I read about something shorting out on there. What exactly is that?

Sounds like I'll have to take it in. Its sitting in the parking garage at my work so I can't really drop the tank there. Maybe I can tow it home if it's not that hard to fix in a garage. Either the short or bad pump im dropping the tank and replacing something either way right?

car is in also Viejo, ca. I live in costa mesa.

You can saw an access hole under the rear seat instead of dropping the tank.

Do some searching and there is a template.

The failure is the terminal connector on the top (of course).

I have the tool to remove the locking ring, if you need to use.

I am local to you.

Did you by chance also check/switch the fuel pump relay?
I live close enough that I could go with a fuel pressure gauge if it helps any.

I haven't checked the relay, those things are so hard to get out anyway. Is there a way to tell if it's bad when I pull it out? Which one is it? under the hood or under the seat?

I guess I can just swap it with another one that I don't need that I know is good.

if it's the fuel pump connector will it be visibly bad when it comes out? I think I have to take it into a shop, I can't take the time to drop the tank and all that and I need my car.

In that case, what all needs to be replaced? Do I just get stock parts from the dealer? Any way to prevent this in the future?

Thanks guys.

Ooo. sounds like dropping the tank is like a 10 hour job. Maybe I will get it towed to my house and cut a hole.

If it is the connector shorting out like in that other thread, what exactly do I need to buy? I assume I have to get it from the dealer?

Thanks

Well i was both cheap and lazy i cut an access panel , pulled the pump said some profanities took some pics and called gm to bitch about it; then i cut the ground wire soldered on a new 12 guage wire removed what was left of the pin in the connector on top of the pump assembly , drilled a bigger hole where the pin was and ran my new wire through the top and sealed it .then i butt connected the new wire into the harness . I do still have some pics

Get the fuel pump connector from Rockauto its pretty cheap through them.
When i ordered it they were having a stock blowout on it and it was an actual AC Delco part.

If you take off the passenger side rear inside cover you can get at the wires and probe the one (it is a fat one) that goes to the fuel pump.

I would make sure that power was getting back to the pump before I would go cutting holes in anything.

Quick and easy ; reach under the car at passenger side of fuel tank and tap the tank strap with a hammer or ratchet it should jar the connection enough for the pump to run a lil while; that will tell you also

I know you said that you don't hear the pump running, but I never hear mine either. I would try to give her a snort of ether and make sure it fires and runs even if it is only for a second. It would eliminate the 100 other things it could be.

I had an issue like this with another car and it turned out to be the crank position sensor... just another thing to check.
