Talking My 408 and Canadian Performance

Just wanted to say have been running my 408 shortblock that got from Canadian Performance for a few days now and everything seems good.

I got a 408 iron short block,Callies crank, callies rods, wiseco custom 9.5 to 1 pistons. Arp main ,rod bolts.

Engine is pulling good vacuum near 20inches which surprised me but its a pretty small cam in the 408 so that makes sense I guess. Not complaining .

Would possibly have went to a 427 or even bigger if would have went NA but with the turbos and small shots of spray the 408 is plenty plenty for street car.

So like to thank CP for the engine. And might be giving them a call for my lt1 when want to turn it into a 383.

I have laptop and wideband. Can watch knock as well. Can get it dynoed tuned next spring. But maybe starting to get annoyed with the car and few other things now so might just sell it and get a vette and be done with this fourth gen and modding stuff. Sell all my cars and just get a c6 and keep it stock then a c7..mabye trade up vettes.

Some maybe shakedown stuff that is getting on my nerves not nessarily anything related to the new engine.

No that was last week when things weren't going so great Chris..I had huge exhaust leaks that were driving me nuts. Fixed them with some band clamps. Much better now. Only things bugging me now are the floater rattle the twin disc has when you push in clutch and the noises the t56 makes and the way the shifter rattles when you step on it even though have hurst factory shifter.Maybe I need a new trans mount? Also the aps kit uses poly motor mounts so that might cause some of the extra vibration thru the shifter.

But still going to just go auto conversion and be done with my manuals.

So now car is running pretty good and guess going to keep it. Lose too much to sell these modded up cars usually. I want a vette someday but not a c5, not even sure a c6 the c7 might be where I get into them, its coming out in a couple of years. And might just keep my ta and other cars not really that much point selling them unless they really **** me off!

But vettes are awesome even the c5s they are a big jump over our f bodies in braking, handling, all their safety traction and active handling systems. They are nice and light also. And so far only had rides or driven a c5. Also I like hud displays still mad we never got in the firebirds but the grand prixs got them. Huds are cool!
