Hello, Introduction, Track time
I am new to this forum, I bought a 1994 1LE Camaro race car that we are going to race in the Ontario Regional Series (CASC Sprints). We are in the process of ressurecting the car, its has a great racing history and many owners lol. Just wanted to say hi and will check in from time to time.
Also every year I organize a lunch time lapping session on the big track at Mosport (yes I know Canadian Tire Motorsports Park) during the Srping regional race there. We charge $25.00 minimum donation and all the money goes to Sick Kids Hospital. These are not typical "parade" laps, we go as fast as the cars following me in the pace car can keep up. If anyone is interested in coming I will post more info. The date is Sunday May 5 2013.
I will enclose a few pics of the car in progress...............
Pics are starting points and where it is now I better get busy and see if I can get it ready.
What is the date. I know I can go check on CASCs forum, but thought others might like to know as well.
Maybe I could just bring out the SRT8 instead.
What motor is in the car? Is it an LT1 or LS1 based engine?
Have you had the car on scales yet? I don't know if you ever saw the one I was running a few years back in SoloSprint, but it was a '93, LT1 engine, very extensively gutted, and tipped the scales at 3038 lbs with a roll cage bolted in from an old Player's car, and a full (~60L?) fuel cell. With "me" behind the wheel, I turned a low 1:35 at Mosport. That was actually with a stock LT1 too
.More power and a better driver, you should have no problem getting to the low 1:30's. The only major short-coming of these F-bodies is the live axle out back. An independent rear would do wonders, but apparently installing the Fayes2 Watts-link is a good "compromise"?
Anyway, good luck with the car this year!
The car is almost finished, fired up for the 1st time on Saturday, the windshield went back in about an hour ago lol.
Does anyone know someone in the Toronto area that knows a lot about the LT1 engines? Most of the sensors have been removed or unhooked, the engine revs very quick etc but does not seem to settle down to idle and runs quite rich...........
