Okay before the FI guys jump me here's how this has all come together for me.
A 2004 5.3 with 48k on it literally fell into my lap. The manifold was cracked from the pull out and it came with no Electronics except for the Coil pack harness. The motor also came with the Alt/PS bracket with the pump. The internals are in excellent condition. Then a Edelbrock RPM manifold w-controller was handed to me by a family member with deep pockets who decided to go LS3. and for a pan I have a Milodon pan kit that I got too. This is what I have to work with. Since my Trans is a 200-4R and have the Carb-TV cable/Linkage and already sorted out so I can just Transplant that onto the manifold. As for the Motor I'm looking at swaping the cam, valve springs and Pushrods. I going for Broad power thru the low and Mid range not Peak Numbers.I've been looking at the Edelbrock 2215 and 2216 cams as well as the GM Hot Cam and the Comp Cams 273 grind. This will be street driven with limited track time so looking for good street manners and good torque. I've heard mixed results with the LS-6 cams with carbs, but I can get one of those on the cheap. Still need to get a few things like headers before the swap starts and I put the car in garage purgatory.

Depends, do you have a stall, are you getting one? What size if so? Otherwise, no stall, dont, but a cam in it besides stock cams like the LS6. If you will get a 2600-2800, a Hot cam would probably fit the bill for you, the max i would go in the cam department if you did go with a 26-2800 stall(those are like 200$ BTW), a 220/224 duration grind will have some decent low end, but the mid range would be awesome, no matter what you do with the LS engine, any real cam wil end up carrying over to 6500 RPM or so before falling off.

give pat g or geoff at eps a shot. they can spec u a custom cam to your needs alot better than a off the shelf cam. its only $25 more for a custom grind. They specd me 218/222 for my carb'd 5.3 in my 69 camaro.
