I need a part number to order a map sensor. What is the best one to run, where did you get yours?

Pulled one off a generic GM motor in the JY. Took a picture of the MSD connector just to make sure it would plug in. The sensor doesn't have to be off a V8, they are all the same.

It will be hard to beat the $5 JY price. You can probably get it for free if you just throw it in the bottom of your tool box when getting something else.

AMEN! I bought one new at Advance and paid $55.00! Any one-bar GM MAP from mid-nineties up should work. Just look for the same connector shell, you should be able to adapt the pressure end to your manifold.

No question you can find one at the JY, but check the MSD connector first, like said above. I bought one at O'Reilly when I first set mine up....looked the same, but the little tit inside that assures you put it together correctly was on the opposite side! I had even specified one for an LS1. Don't know if it was boxed wrong or what. Wound up like above with a used one.

Look right under the air cleaner, it's plugged into a rubber 90° fitting that's plugged into a homemade hose barb fitting:

My box says BWD / V08235 / EC1686 on it, but again, that's a $55 part from Advance...

Haven't run it yet (I have a G-Tech Pro, but...) I'm still sorting out a few bugs. RWHP should be around 375 or so, weight should be around 2900 with me in it. Those numbers (in a perfect world!) show 10.92 @ 122!

Where in FL are you? I have a sis in Cape Coral and Dad in Ft. Myers. We'll be heading there in June...

I interchanged the part number (EC1686) and it came up as SU1176 (autozone), and I stumbled upon this ebay link with a list of compatiable vehicals. Looks like an easy JY find. Hope this helps, Eric L

I had a look at that MAP but I could not see inside the end of the plug connection to see if it looks like a match.

Its a match. It sounds as if almost any late model GM will work. Even some hondas, etc. Eric L

so most of you guys are putting the map in the rear manifold hole? could be a stupid question where are you plugging the brake booster vacuum hookup to? and is there a map sensor adapter to adapt to the threaded hole on the GM intake? thx

I connected mine to my Holley's unported vacuum line. I connected the brake booster/PCV line to the carb's also. The GMPP manifold doesn't have any vac connections.
