One project that I always thought would be cool is to convert the old Z-28 Crossram to individual port injectors and throttle bodies. You could have all the benefits of the straight tuned running lengths and classic looks without the fuel flow problems that plagued the crossram design.

It is R&D, going EFI for NASCAR is good because the advancements that can be had using the fuel injection will make manufacturers usually have break throughs in the tech after beating the snot out of the parts to see what can be improved. NASCAR is not just for rednecks, it is for the future of vehicles to come.

You have a carb that is thrown together, a Pro Systems takes your specs from a order sheet and they put together the parts needed to match a combination.

As for 600$ to the door, thats why i got a used 650, Proform main body and quick fuel base plate and put it together. That is about 300$ and my carb is as good as it can get without having a shop do some magic.
Hey the proform still beats the hell out of a lot of other carbs. Billet base plate, billet metering blocks, screw in air bleeds, down leg boosters, rear jet extensions, changeable idle feed restrictors and already has the HP main body. You could spend a lot more money adding these extras to a holley.

I started out getting a Quick Fuel and it ran so rich. We tried to rejet it change the power valves adjust air/fuel by vaccum etc, etc. Could not get it right, not even close.Shut the truck down and called Pro Systems and gave Patrick all info and about 3 weeks and it was on the truck. Turned the key and never missed a lick. Only the quick fuel ran so much fuel thru it caused bearing problems and had black marks on cylinder walls and scuffed up piston skirts. Needless to say ruined a 3800 dollar bottom end. Anyway The Pro Systems is really great. Just got my new engine back from LME and am working on getting it back in the truck.

I've been doing a lot of reading over the past few days on carb selection. Looking at some vacuum secondary carbs since my car is a full framed all steel Chevelle running on the street.

You can find the Holley 3310 vacuum secondary carb cheap and plentiful. $75 -$100 can usually buy an excellent core to rebuild.

I can afford to spend around $500 for the moment on a carb. I thought I had a lead on an Edelbrock 800 for free that would have gotten me up and running for now, but that deal fell through. I had planned on buying the Holley 750 Street HP mechanical, but, Im not sure my car wouldnt have better all around performance on the street with a VC carb. Im not sure. I had a 3310 a couple years ago. Guess I should have kept it.

Yea man, the vac sec carbs do great for temporary or permanent, but for max performance, the DP is the hot ticket. Either way, the VS are really cheap like speed mentioned, i usually get them for 30-50$ for a 750.
