We just purchased a cam for my buddy's 5.3L project(232/236 598ish lift on a 110). The heads are being milled a little and getting some good springs, and then we're dropping a victor jr on it with an 1150 Dominator. Should be running in early March, so I'll post up what happens then.

Might be too much, but with that cam, he is killing the low end anyway, so it will work as long as it has a pretty big converter.

Not saying it won't work, but in my opinion, it is far from "ideal". With the lack of air speed, getting the fuel curve right is going to be a chore. Even with the fuel curve right, I can almost guarantee a smaller carburetor will make more power and recover from shifts better. Good luck with the setup, please let us know how it does.

Exactly, surely killing the bottom end with a lack of good signal to the carb.

What is this sacrilege you speak? The Zones89RS I know would say you need a bigger cam and stall converter to go with that barely big enough carburetor!

I know it's too much carb, but it's not my call on this project. I mentioned a 750 to him, but, he wants to work with what he already has on hand. The cam is just the only one we could find in our price range and time frame. I would have liked to go smaller on the cam though. He also has a loose converter for this build already. Buddy said he plans to build a stroker with it after he gives it a go with these parts. We'll see what happens. I gonna try to borrow an extra carb at the track so after he's done fooling around with that monster carb he can slap on a more appropriate one to see the difference.

Holley has a new line of aluminum carburetors, have any of you guys been checking those out?

Not sure on the 4150s, but I have seen then guts of the new 4500s. The dimensions of the metering blocks are a compromise of street and race, and results have been poor, and that was said by the Holley engineers. Word is that they are going to create a seperate part number for the carburetors with the redesigned metering blocks though.

I just put a Holley Street HP 750 on my dads 6.0

Out of the box it didn't need anything to make it run and drive. Bolted it on and set the idle. Pulled the plugs after the first drive and they look very good. Going to get the wideband on the car for the next drive just to see where it is at.

Overall this looks to be a good piece for a out of the box bolt on for a 450hp 6.0

Yea. That's what I figured. I've seen results of 2 street Hp carbs used now. And the out of the box tune was pretty much spot on. One guy didn't even mess with his at all and car runs great

Bringing it back from the dead thread grave... Bought an older QFT P-750 for $350 shipped. It looks to be in great shape, and he has the feedback to back up his honesty. I hope. Anyway, I hope I made the right choice. For the money, it seems like I did. Only time and tunning will tell.

Just wondering if you ever got the wideband on it. Would be good info to know.
