5.3 cam help.
I would like some input on cam options for a 1999 5.3 going into a 67 camaro with a th350 and a 3200 stall rear gear not yet determined. I read this article http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...flow_test.html I would like to keep stock heads change springs 650-750 cfm vac secondary carb. The cam in the article seems a bit much as i will just be crusing in my car but i do like hearing the motor sing. And i dont see alot about changin push rods is it needed? Thanks for any input this site kicks *** BTW.

Are you wanting to stick with an off the shelf grind? Or have you considered getting one custom spec'd specifically for your setup and goals? I had one spec'd out by Pat G for my 5.3 build, although its not up and running yet, I'm really anxious to see what it will do. What intake do you plan on using? And yes, upgrading the pushrods is strongly recommended when swapping in a new cam.

If you hag on a bit, i will have my 86 running with the Patriot cam all motor and let you know how it does, it is small than the cam in the article you posted, but it will not be a punk. 225/229@.050, just under .600 lift and i think it will do very well, i wish it was a tighter LSA all motor but i got it with the intet of boost in the future.
I will be using a 3000 stall.
I will be using a 3000 stall.

I am running a texas speed 220r in my 4.8 with a th350 and 3600 stall. It is a 220/220 581/581 110lsa and it has very good street manners but still pulls hard. It is carbed and I drive it daily with no problems whatsoever. It has a good noticeable idle as well. I ordered a cam kit from tsp that came with new pushrods and springs. I am also using the vic jr. intake and msd 6010 box.
