I have a 1969 Camaro that I am dropping a 5.3l with a hot cam into. I also just bought a new TCI street fighter th400 with the converting TCI flex plate. I’m not too sure on what my gears are as of now. I do know that that it is the original a posi 10 bolt I was wondering what size stall to use, or what has worked best for you guys. Also does brand really matter? I was leaning towards a TCI Saturday Night Special stall but was told a JEGS brand stall would work just as good and for almost half the price… (just my though)![Icon Confused](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies2/icon_confused.gif)
Any advice given would greatly help me. Thanks.

I have a B&M holeshot 3000 stall converter for TH-400 that is a year old with less than 600 miles on it for sale that would be perfect for your set up. PM me if your interested I paid $400 for it new and will make a good deal for you.

I personally always liked a tight stall over loose. It makes them very streetable and keeps the heat low. When you want the high stall and put the pedal to the floor it flashes right where its suppose to. but it your at stop signs and in traffic you can give it part throttle and have it drive like a stock converter. Loose stalls in those situations produce a lot of heat and can cause issues. Not saying loose or tight is better than the other but its more of a preference of what you prefer.

Drag Car - 4,000 to 4,500
Street Strip - 3,500 to 4,000
Cruiser - Street only 2400 to 3200
As for brands, I would chose either Performance Torque Converter (PTC) or Circle D.

I have owned 3 tci convertors 2 worked ok 1 came apart. 2 were replaced with trannsmision specailties one I just sold. I picked up et and driveablity with the tsi convertors. I would suggest a better brand than tci or b+m. With a hotcam a 10 inch covertor around 3000 to 3300 would split the differance between drivablity and performance.

I'm using a TCI super street fighter, car is driven on the street and strip in a heavy Cadillac with 4.10 gears. I do have a good plate style cooler but it's a great converter imo. I had a Street fighter in it before but the car was a dog out of the hole but if your driving mostly on the street it may be a better choice for you. My cam is mid 230's @ .050 though m2cents

just a quick fyi, those Jegs converters are built by Transmission Specialties out of PA. i have one of their xhd9" units and LOVE it! 4500rpm flash speed, doesn't build heat, drives decent, only 6% slippage, and customer service second to none. you won't be dissappointed
