I fit a 3" filter in there with a 2" spacer under the carb(had a slight drop base). That was on my 82 C10 when it had the stock hood.

I don't remember if I had a build thread or not. Not much to my truck though, pretty much just a LY6 with a cam and carb setup. It's gutted and only see's dragstrip duty. I'll PM you some details and pics.
