Default LS 2x4 Dual Plane Mid–Rise – EFI Dual Plane Mid-Rise EFI LS Intake Manifold

I posted this in the genIII external engine, but got no response, so I thought I'd bring it over here. Anyhow, the deal is that I've got a 408 iron block that I want to put in a '79 Z28 project car. I want to have the old school carbureted look while keeping my fuel injection. It also must fit under an L88 hood, which I plan to make functional for cowl induction. I've tried to do some research, but don't have much time. I have learned that for a street car making 475-525 wheel horsepower (I'm at 503 now), a dual plane would probably be better. I also realize that the intake below, while looking really awesome, would probably be overkill. So, would this intake work for a street driven (possibly a DD) engine that needs to have good manners? What would you recommend otherwise and why?

Oh yeah, it has a TSP Giant cam (that will change to something custom and milder) and PRC stage 3 LS6 heads right now (I think).

Does anyone have anymore information about this product? Maybe someone that went to SEMA? If not, how do you guys expect this to perform? Will it be a good / better alternative to the Victor Jr single plane? I've been googleing it, but can't find anything more than the sales pitch on Holley's site. It will go on the 408, and then that motor with a few other changes is going into a '79 Z. Thanks.

Don't know what that intake would be like, all I know is I would love to have that look.

Can't say that I have ever seen a post where someone is using one of those, so answers may be few.

personally i would ditch that manifold. Yea it looks cool and its got 2 carb flanges and all that other stuff but if i were to spend my hard earned cash on a 2 carb manifold it would be that holley tunnel ram with the removable upper plenum.

But i will be changing to an l92 setup as soon as the funds allow.

As long as you didnt put 2 750's on it i think it would be fine. 2 smaller carbs would work ok but i dont think you would get the driveability you are looking for

just my $.02

Well, I really didn't want to spend the money on new heads, and I think that tunnel ram is way too much for the power level that I will be at. Again though, I am staying EFI, not going to carbs.

It was supposed to be out 1st quarter of this year, but I haven't seen anything anywhere on it.

Are you using throttle body style injection so you don't need injector bosses? If so the Edelbrock 75187 may be what you are looking for.

That thing looks badass! Is anyone running it yet?

Don't know what kind of fuel injection I'm using yet. Do you have a link to the kind of throttle bodies you are referring to?

Thanks a million!

Adam

EDIT: Something like two of these?

Or these?

Or rather these?

The FAST ones are pretty pricey. How well would they perform on a 408 do you think?

Which one? The Holley is made for MPFI, but it's not out yet and no one has any information on it. The Edelbrock isn't set up for MPFI.
