But I don't have stock heads.

I have TSP CNC 243s.

There are very few off-the-shelf cams tighter than 112° unless you get one custom ground.

I've got a torquer II in my 347" and it's quite choppy idling at 950. Sounds even better lower, but A/C & PS won't allow it to happen without stalling. I'm with speedtigger on that 1st cam, would love to try it out!

So...spend the extra $50-75 to get a custom ground cam that is optimized for your setup.

These off the shelf cam's for LS based motors on ground for specs to move dry air through a long intake runner. Carb'ed setups are shorter runners moving wet air.

TSP heads....niiiiiice! Then get a custom ground cam IMO, call Geoff at EPS(Engine power systems) he did a great job on my carb cam IMO. Great guy to talk to on the phone even months after the sale on possible ways to pull more power out of my engine combo.

I am in no hurry to tear into my engine. I have 30 days of wrenching nights and weekends to do this swap. Now it is time to have some fun!

i agree on the "shoulda gone bigger". my comp LSR 269-13 sounds very stockish. the fast computer is still learning though. sometimes it has a little rap, most of the time it sounds like my stock cammed LS2 goat.i went that small for my big power brakes.

my compLSR 227/235 on a 114+4 sound nice at idle, fairly choppy, yet drives nice in gear down to around 13-1400rpm, next to NO surging down there either, even with the VicJr. If I had my choice i would have got it on a 110LSA, but I got it used from an EFI guy.
My new cam is substantially bigger, custom spec`d by Bret Bauer, cant wait to hear that........

If you look around you somewhat tell how cold it was that day. Literally ice all around the car. I think it was 34* or somewhere along those lines. I had not exactly tuned that yet.

It ran great. Loved the car. Too bad I had to get rid of her.

So let me get this straight. You have a lq9 with p&p 243's and a baby shelf cam

Man you should just put a 4.8l in there and saved alot of money You have 20-30 horse left to find with a custom cam

What is your timing (in gear)?? If you back it off some that should give you more lope.

I have the LS3 style heads and don't have over .650 lift! Funny...Comps techs spec'd that same 222/224 cam for my LY6 powered truck. I told them I wanted a bit more from it and felt it needed more exhaust dur. with these heads. Both the a/f ratio and timing have quite a bit to do with idle quality and if its off....would allow you to idle lower with some tuning?

mine lopes a little...a Comp 223/231 @ .050 .610/.617 lift and 112LSA. I love it for now....once I start racing it tho....
