Here is how it works. As the RPM raise you transition from the idle/transition circuit into the main jets. At a cruise you will be fully on the main jets at roughly 2500 depending on how much throttle is applied. Obviously more throttle will be the main jets and less would be more affected by the idle/transition circuit. If you want to have a good and consistent cruise AFR, both need to be right.

I thought you were in the process of getting track times to see if the Victor Jr. would be quicker?? Although, maybe I just haven't read as closely as I should and missed it.

The initial track comparison results were in post 47. The bottom line is that in the same d/a (700) my car is 2 full MPH and .06 quicker with the Victor Jr. However, it lost .07 in the 60'.

In my opinion, a safe generalization is that cars with torque converters smaller than 3000 would do better with the Performer RPM. I would also make the generalization that camshafts with 225 @ .050" duration and smaller can consider the Performer RPM a solid choice while cars with bigger camshafts are Victor Jr. Territory. Cars with lower numerical gears or heavy weight also may consider the Performer RPMs torque advantages.

My car is actually quicker in the 1/8 mile by 1 hundredth with the Performer RPM, but I will be going with the Victor Jr. because I can't dead hook on the street, so the Performers advantage is lost in my case.

Performer RPM
60' 1.62
1/8 7.41 @ 92.7
1/4 11.68 @ 114.8

Victor Jr.
60' 1.69
1/8 7.42 @ 94.2
1/4 11.62 @ 116.8

Have you thought about running a set of et streets so you can hook better?

No traction problems. The converter only flashes to 2800. If I go faster than 11.50, I get thrown out for lack of safety equipment.

I thought I saw that you wouldn't dead hook with the other intake.

Time to buy a cage then!!

Thanks for the details. I guess I thought you were still in the proving stages. For me...I was glad to see there wasn't a substantial difference or I would be thinking I needed a Victor Jr. Your "generalization" seems right in the ballpark too.

I dead hooks at the track, but not on the street. As for the cage. I don't want to do that. My car is a perfect survivor. I don't want to weld a cage in there. It is not a race car. It is my cruiser that just happens to get raced.

There are guys in the 7's on 275 MT DR's.....it's not the tires.

As for SpeedTiggers goal of 11.5's... he will get there with a little more time...I'm sure of it.

As for not wanting to "cut up" his car.... I can't blame him at all...it looks great as is.
