ran it with the 28x10's today and my gearing is good now, crossing at 7000. went a new best 10.35@130 1.44 60'. kept adding jet to the carb and it's still eating it. got 89 front 90 rear, timing at 29. next time going to keep adding jet and/or might try out a 950 carb.

What stall? Hopefully I'm not a jackass and missed it...historically, that's been the case.

Awesome progress!

Are you keeping track of the DA when you make your runs?

Not to be off topic but im building an 04 LQ4 also and understand you put the ARP rod bolts in your setup, which i have ordered the 2000 series, and keep thinking about everyone saying you have to resize the rods when you go with ARP, how did you go about installing your rod bolts? thanks..

I used the 8740 ones. I removed 1 bolt and sleeve at a time. Install new bolt and be sure to lube threads and underneath the head of the bolt. torque to 40ft lbs 3 times.

ex...
1 torque to 40, break torque
2 torque to 40, break torque
3 torque to 40

Have you tried the preset chips in the MSD? Carbed Ls motors usually like more timing. My carbed 5.3 liked 35 degrees total. I ran the most aggressive chip , I think it was #6 but it has been a while. I tried tweeking the timing curve with the handheld box and it always ran better with their preset and 35 total. I would pull timing out for the nitrous using the handheld. Also Pro Systems carbs are great. I would call Patrick @ pro systems and fill out the online tech form. Send that carb into him and let him reflow it based on your combo. He is real reasonable on $$. You will not be disappointed with the results. It will be just about spot on out of the box when you get it back. Good luck and nice ride sir.

thank you!
i started at 32 and been working my way down and adding jet to see if i can get some more color in the plug. after the new year i'll probably send off the carb to them so they can tweak it to my combo.

I have almost the exact motor setup you have in my mustang and I just changed over from the edelbrock box to the 6010 and I was curious on how you set your timing curve.
