Default first time out with lq4 powered mustang

Made it out to the track for the first time friday night with 30 min of run time on the engine and hardly no tuning. Race weight with me in the car is 2960 and I weigh 200.

combo: pump gas
stock lq4 shortblock with arp rod bolts
local hand ported 243's, milled .040, valve job, stock valves
stock head gasket, stock lifters, stock rockers, ls2 hd timing set
comp 23x/24x .60x/.61x 110
stock truck water pump
victor jr intake, 850 carb, 1 7/8 dynatech headers
th400, 10" tci (for now), 4.10's, 26x8.5 slicks.

First pass with the rev limiter set at 7000, running out of gear around 1100ft so I coasted to the finish.
1.52 60' left at idle
6.76@102.31 1/8
10.68@115.00 1/4

Second pass went up in jet size and set the limiter to 7300, still on the limiter about 100 ft before the finish.
1.47 60' left at 2000
6.64@103.59 1/8
10.44@128.70 1/4

Third pass were same conditions as 2nd pass.
1.46 60'
6.63@103.61 1/8
10.43@128.66 1/4

All in all I am very pleased with these shakedown passes. Going to put a 28" tall tire on it so we can do some fine tuning to the motor and not have to worry about spinning it too high.

Lance

3.89 gears on a 26 will get you 132 or 133 on motor. I am running a very similar combo. Fun.

Well, that is where I imagine my 6 liter would be if I dumped it in a lighter car, good numbers man. I am sure there is way more left in it with tuning ect.

What 850 carb are you running? What did you end up with for jets? And congrats on the awesome ET's bro. It sounded good too.

carb is a used pro systems that i bought off of this board. put 87 jets in front and 88 in rear, and both power valves plugged. timing is 30 or 31.

Man its hard to believe these set ups can run this fast...its just crazy! I would like to run a combo like this in my 240Z project. Should tip the scales around 2600-2650 with driver. If you ran a 4L60E you think it would hurt the performance with the wide gear spread of the 1/2 shift?? Rear gear would be 3.54 with a 26" tire. Thanks!
