Carbed LS1 + 4L60E possible?
Hello all, I've been all over the internet researching how to control my 4L60E with a carbed LS1.. So far I've learned that I would need a tps sensor to tell the tranny the rpm and that's it. Does anyone know any key points on how I can make my auto tranny work without the efi computer? This set up is going into my 76 pontiac formula. All info is greatly appreciated thanks
On another note, what is a good cam for a stock 346 ci 853 heads? With a carburator?

the early 4L80E's in the trucks had a separate controller for the trans. like in the early 90's. dont know if this helps but worth looking into. especially if you have considered upgrading anyway.

I would a agree for a stock 4l60e. But a built one will last a long time behind most street/strip setups. The performabuilt one i had in my 3750 lb 99 WS6 lasted for 2 years of abuse and is still going strong for it's current owner. Car runs mid 11s on motor and low 10s on spray so.

i would go with a 80E all day long.
1. they are just a much beefier internal design IMO, based off the old TH400's.
2. you could find a standalone module for them from the old ~94 6.5 diesel trucks in a junkyard for a hell of alot cheaper than any aftermarket.
3. the price of buying and building a 60E vs a 80E cant be enough to offset the added strength.

Thanks again, but I'm sticking with the 4l60e just because I already have it and on a side note my firebird will be a street car close to 400 hp.. I just wana get the damn thing running! Lol I am definately going with the FAST tci.. seems great and fully programmable

Im useing the Fast EZ TCU,no computer(software needed)only the hand held programmer it comes with,I went with a Holley Carb. and used the Holley TPS,iT works great,Only trouble i see with it is if you nail it and decide it wasnt a good idea,It sorta gets confused and momentarly stays in low gear,Thats the only problem i have found with it,Price is way down compared to what it used to be.I think SummitRacing has it for alittle over $600
