Default Damaged the RS today

To avoid a rear end collision i had to swerve around a Ford truck, still clipped it and the frame rail is bent, so i will be pulling the 6.0 and put it in the 86 TA, see if it goes any faster with an automatic, unsure of vehicle weight, but it still has impact bars in the doors, carpet interior, front and rear bumpers under the covers, ect. So, if it went the same time, i would consider it faster, LOL.

I will weight it, but it will be fun to have a 4.30 geared 6.0 3 speed on the street huh? Will be a first for me. Hope it will stay cool, but i doubt it with the stock radiator, i will have to go aftermarket for the first time.
So, i need to swap the 12 bolt, motor, exhaust(and mod the 6 speed duals to clear the TH400 maybe?), swap suspension, and then i will throw the nitrous back on the 6.0 as well. A new converter will be a must im sure as well.

Damage to the car:

Yea, glad I was able to limp it home no problem. Pulls to the right now. I paid 500$ for the car, so no loss in reality besides blood and sweat, and tears...and cuss words. Lol

You walked away unhurt and with a good attitude. Sounds like a successful day all around.

Damn man....sorry to hear that but glad you're OK. Coulda been much worse. Sounds like you've got a solid plan for the parts in the TA. Any idea how aggresive you'll go on the converter? Just FYI....with my Camaro with a 6.0L, TH400, 5000 PTC Converter (only goes 4800 on the brake), 28 inch tires and 4.10 gears......I'm at 3400ish at 55mph and 3600 just over 60mph IIRC.

Last weekend I took it for a non-stop 52 mile drive on backroads with 55 to 65mph speed limits. Outside temp was 80 degrees. The engine never bested 170 and the trans stayed at or below 160. I have an aftermarket Champion 3-row alum radiator and the biggest B&M Supercooler. Oh and I should mention.....I don't go on a cruise like that without stopping for a few aggressive launches and a few full 1/4 mile passes.....so I wasn't easy on it. Not bragging.....just letting you know what is still possible temperature-wise with a loose converter and steep gears. Gas milage on the other hand..............what's that?

Yep, not like it was a new car, not to mention, my change in taste as life moves on and my skills will end up with a even nicer replacement. Glad it ended that way it did.

Thanks for the heads up on RPM, i was wondering. I know the stock radiator game is over with that RPM and Texas heat. Will be a local cruiser and haul it to the track bruiser for the TA. Really going to be curious as to what converter i will use, i like running all motor and then spray when needed, so that is hard to fill a request as such. It is usually all motor duty or power adder duty.

Glad you weren't hurt, the car can be replaced/upgraded. I will add some input as well. I have a 6.0 with th350 and 4.30's on a 28" tires and a 4k converter. It turns 3300@60. Drive it on the street all the time. Occasional hour long each way highway trips. I have a stock radiator and a big cooler. Engine runs on the thermostat right at 195*. I have my inner fenders out so that helps cooling some. My suggestion for a converter is PTC. Myself and 2 other friends run them and are happy with them. They can custom spec it for your application. It is a street car that I run on motor and occasionally spray.

I am worried the trans am closed front end will hinder cooling for a stock unit, we will see.

Yep. The next will be a 4.8 with cam, 7800 and try the autocross thing, that is the plan at this point.
