any gain switching to carb
#4
I use to have links but there have been several write ups in car mags where they did pick up a fair amount of top end HP from switching to a carb and carb intake. If you look at the EFI and carb'd versions of GM crate motors they typically rate the carb'd version with 35 more HP than the EFI. The surprising thing is torque numbers aren't off by much either.
So yes, you might go faster

The only plus about a carb vs efi is that efi is a bit more tuner friendly.
Figuring out a tune in a carb can take awhile and does take some experience. As long as you have a good timing box (MSD 6010/6012) and know how to work a wideband then I would go carb all day long. Changing jets is easy but getting to that exact sweet spot does take some time.

If you have a knack for hands on it is easy. EFI tuning is another ball game with the software. For a drag application the carb isost likely the way to go for power with the ease of the setup, simplicity, ect. So damn cheap when it comes down to a budget or low buck setup.
