Default Lq9 swap with Carb need help with pump

Im building a LQ9 out of a 2005 Escalade, Im having it bored .30 over, new bearings, LS3 heads, with PRC springs, and a custom ground cam, around 603/602 cant exactly remember off the top of my head. Anyways, all this is going into a 1975 Trans Am, and Im going a Dual plane, with a 850 carb and the MSD set up to make it all run.

My question is I have bought a brand new tank, and Im trying to figure out what pump and where... I know the topic has been covered, but Im having a difficult time getting the info, maybe Im lost?? Ok now Im looking at other post, do I have to run a return line with a carb set up?? If I have a inline fuel pump, It comes a single line off the tank, I run a fuel filter, and its a single line to the regulator, and than a single line to a carb...

Thanks for the help..

Kevin

Yeah, there are a number of active threads on pump set ups. A return style regulator will make your pump more quiet, live longer and support more HP from the same pump. You will need a fairly good sized system to feed that motor.

That is a pretty big cam. Second the notion on a Vic Jr or even super vic

I run the bypass into a T fitting before the inlet of the fuel pump line. No need to plumb back to the tank.

That definitely simplifies things. Might even make the pump self priming. I would have worried about the fuel heating up but if you aren't having any trouble in the Texas heat then it must work good.

One of the things that a properly set up return line system can do is help against vapor lock on hot days. Those 2nd gens can hold a lot of heat under the hood. So, if you do end up having vapor lock with a simple dead head system, a return system and a phenolic or wood spacer under the carburetor will solve it. You can guess how I know........

As for your intake manifold, there is not enough information in your opening post to make any recommendations on your combo. You did not state stick or auto, if auto the stall speed or your rear gear. These are the things that determine the best choice of intake. LIft does not tell much about a camshaft. These days even a .600" lift camshaft could have a very short duration. Knowing the full specs on the cam would be helpful if you happen to be looking for intake advice also.

Thanks, I will get the exact cams specs. I ordered it from Scoogin-Dickey.. Im running a built t56, with a LS7 clutch. So Im more and likely going with the Vic Jr.. Seems to be the overwhelming way to go...I will build it with with a return in mind..The block is at the machine shop as we speak, so When I get a little closer I will post pics.. Im doing a complete "overhaulin" on a 1975 T/A. Its a 90 day project from start to finish... I will start taking pics this weekend, as my dad are braking it down..

I plan to use my walbro inline 255lph pump through The corvette fuel filter that has a return line from it . This is a self regulating filter for fuel injection but I'm going to run a dead head regulator up front by carb at 6.5 psi. Everything it don't need will return through return off filter.

I already had this fuel system for fuel injection so I'm using it .

As for your intake, go Vic jr or super Vic with that 6 spd.

Have a picture or a diagram? Not exactly sure what you are meaning by that.
