I set up 20* at zero, ramp all in by 2000 to max timing and take a two degree dip between 4k and 6k.

I must have bad gas cuz I can only get to 29* at 3k before I get detonation up high.

Doug, my engine liked to have the timing dip at torque peak. That was 5400 on mine, but should be similar on yours, maybe 5200. Dyno showed it liked 36* from idle to 3800, ramping slowly down to 32* at 5400 , then strait 32* through 8000.
Start your timing curve at 15* not 0, and bring in full timing a bit below idle rpm- like 500.
As for MAP timing, I can't remember what psia I had it dropping out, but I set up 15* from 0psia, to a point that was JUST higher(numercally) than cruise psia.
Drivability was good.
Barrett
EDIT: typo, I had 4800 where 3800 is now, big difference!
also this was for LS3 heads, flycut dish OEM pistons at 11:1 compression. this same curve worked nice at 9.5:1, with 2* added throughout curve

OK....
2 more "tunes" loaded up in laptop to try once I get this thing running....MAP is just a guess until I get her fired up and a few runs around the block and I'll have the laptop with me to keep an eye on things and make an adjustment or three

I run mine at 15 deg at zero and up to 36 at 700 and straight across, ive tried pulling some on top end but it seems to like that the best, that was with my old setup lq9. ms4, vic jr, kooks long tubes and race gas. Its awesome being able to adjust everything.

Stock LS3 heads shaved .050, stock LQ4 pistons fly-cut, so about 10.3:1ish ?

I personally would not go over 30 total until you have a chance to track or dyno tune the car. You don't gain much pushing in a few extra degrees of advance, so the risk to reward is just not there to flirt with detonation.

This is why I asked/posted...still a lot of "old school" tendencies.
