Yea, many try to say efi is cheaper. After buying used components for efi vs all new carb parts...yea, I would hope so. Lol

Well, the ball keeps rolling and the weather keeps getting colder lol. So far my fuel pump is mounted and the wiring has started. There's not to much wiring, just 2 or 3 connection and its done. While underneath the truck i did make a discovery. Im pretty sure that's a th400 not a th350. Im not up on all the metric transmissions so if Im wrong let me know.

Keeping the ball rolling all is wired and functional. I bent up a fuel line from the carb down to the frame it still will need tweeked and flared for the fittings. Took a trip to napa and got a $8 ps repair line and cut and flared it to adapt to the original ps lines. I also pulled out the old 350 without removing the hood.

Im keeping myself motivated and there's a pile of little things. I cleaned up the wiring a little and got the clamshells and ps lines off the small block. I went mcguyver on my MSD box and put it in the glovebox and ran the harness thru a existing firewall groomed. This build is kinda bull because its seems to be going quicker and cleaner all thats holding me up is opening up the holes on my flywheel.

Being a 86 or so its most likely a TH375. It will have the Turbo 400 pan and a TH350 small yoke connecting the driveshaft.

Thanks, i was sure of it being a 400. The guy i got it off of said it was a 350. Does the 375 have a vacuum modular on the side. It also doesn't have a kickdown cable. Is there a drawback to the 375 will i still be able to use it with the flywheel spacer and the dished 5.3 flywheel.

THM375 - This transmission is a derivative of the THM400 sharing the external appearance of the 400. It'll be marked 375-THM on the bottom of the tailshaft housing. It's a light duty version of the THM400, The Turbo 375 was modified to accept the Turbo 350 driveshaft yoke.

You can see the bottom of the modulator in the pic you posted.
The adapter set-up will work the same as all the rest of the GM automatics.

I took 2 steps forward and 3 steps back tonite. Im now looking at making a set of mounts setting the motor back at least 2" and i may have to remove my flexplate spacer. 2 things came up when i set the motor in. 1 was the teeth on the flexplate went past the starter and 2 the torque converted meets the crankshaft but i still have a 1/2" gap between the bellhousing and the back of the block. Im 100% positive the converter is seated correctly. If anyone with advice wants the give they're 2¢ please do. I don't want to move the trans forward to avoid driveshaft and shifter problems. Ive seen a lot of sliding motor mounts some input on those would be nice as well.

Lol, looks like you are using a 6.0 spacer on a 5.3/4.8 flex plate. You don't need it behind the flex plate, you need it in front to hold the snout of the converter. No biggie, but a pita after doing all the work.

Ya, my thoughts were that its was used as a spacer. It does have a 5.3 flexplate. So the spacer will be more or less something for the converter nose to be supported. After all that work, ya it was a giant shot to the nads. I almost puked one up, lol. Im glad its a simple mistake.

Yea, just trade them places. Or get a 6.0 flex plate and then it can go there.

If u trade the adapter and flexplate places, its like it was made for it LOL. Another dumb question. When i wired the alternate on my caprice i was told to run a heavy gauge wire from the alt directly to the battery. On the truck it has a 12 gauge wire from the alt to the starter. Will i need to run the same setup on the truck as i did on my caprice?

I dont think so. That is how i am going to do my mustang. But, it has a battery mounted in the trunk, so i kinda have no choice, LOL. Should be fine if it is factory bro.

Thanks. I had inspiration from another build on here. I tried making it with a conventional tubing bender, i used the truck manifold off that motor. It still had part of the y-pipe still bolted to it.

Im in the home stretch. There's a hand full of little things needing to be done, mostly underneath the truck. Im need to get myself motivated to do them I've not been in the mood to lay on my back, lol. The only problem Im having now is the egr casting on the passenger's side manifold is hitting the frame, nothing a grinder can't fix. I made another set of mounting plates to solve that issue. The motor was actually set back 3/4". Here's how she sets at her current state.

Thanks a lot fella's. Those manifolds don't do it any justice, lol. All the little things keep adding up and the frustrations are more and more. The local autozone employees are starting to know me by name, lol.
