Default lsx 454 cam in 6.0?

Has anyone tried a lsx 454 cam in a 6.0? They are cheap and getting to be easy to find. And the specs look promising for a decent street cruiser. You can get them new for under 300.00 Thought someone might have tried this.Specs are listed at 635 lift and i think 234 int 244 exh dur. at 50 and 110 lobe sep. Just curious if this has been tried in a budget build.

It sounds like a really good grind for a mid effort to max effort carbed 6.0. With a 110 LSA it should run well.
Does the LSX use 1.8 rockers? The heads are a none CNCed version of the LS7 head. If so the lift will be a few #s less than the listed #s. Try it and let us know how it works out.

The @ .050 numbers are close to the CompCam in mine but the lift numbers are a fuzz higher.
With the LS3 heads shaved .050 I had to have the pistons fly-cut .100...Just be sure to check PTV unsure on what heads you're using.

I think im gonna try it. i will probably be using some 243or 799 heads. I had a line on some ported 241s done by lingenfelter but the kid keeps screwing around on them so think im just gonna get some others. Tired of trying to deal with him.

That grind would work very well in a 6.0. Would pull to 6800 easily making power from 3000 up.

sounds like it would suit rectangle ports better and hi compression.
the 243 will offer higher compression over the rectangle. but should still do very well eith any choice of heads.
looking forward to results. you got a pn. for that cam?

i just got that cam to go in a super budget alloy 6.0, with LS3 heads shaved 100 thou ~12.0:1, leaving the ports stock, running vic jnr and getting a horsepower innovations e85 carb, plus running a dizzy. will need some decent flycuts.

specs are actually
236/246, 600/600 with 1.7 rocker (635/635 with lsx 1.8), 110 lsa.

think its really going to go well.

Hey i have a question if you have the cam in front of you. Does it have the thing in the back of the cam for the sensor? I have an older lq4 thats a gen 3 and dont know what i need to do to run it if it dosent. If i have to replace the cover and get a new cam sensor its not really gonna be worth the effort because i will have more money in the conversion than in a custom cam from tick.

Got my cam in today.Ordered it from the local chevy dealer and got it out the door for 312.35 Didnt think that was too bad,and it was only 2 days to get it. I opened it to verify and it is 3 bolt and has the gen 3 cam sensor eccentric on back so it will work with a msd 6010 box. I took a couple pics, can post it if anyone wants to see.

Yep,im gettin pretty pumped to put it together. I wanted to find some 243s and have them ported but im thinking about just slapping some 241 or 863 castings on and putting it together now. Can change heads any time and havent had much luck finding the others.I think it will still run ok with the ls1 head with a little cleanup in the port.

As I understand it, the LSX-454 cam #19166972 was/is ground by Crane.
It was developed and tested in the Reggie Jackson LSX Camaro, and has stayed in the lineup ever since.

When you look in Crane's catalog, they have an identical shelf cam.
HR-236/353-2-10 0A
.600/.600 (1.7)
298/308 Adv.
236/246@.050
155/162@.200
110+4 LSA

Cam Timing: @.050: IO- 8°, IC- 48°, EO- 53°, EC- 13°

Buying it through GMPP is much less expensive than through Crane.
- GMPP: $270.34 GM Parts Direct
- Crane: $468.00 Summit

WTH?

That is nuts that those companies add that much shipping on the order! PartsTaxi pulls a similar stunt.

Summit has it for 335.97 with free shipping. The price ends up being close to the same, but you would feel less taken advantage of.
