Default spacer help

Ok, car ran 6.44 last week with no spacer.1.37 60ft. This week, with a 4 hole 1 inch spacer, 1.39 60ft 6.43. 594 on the 44 pass was 6.01. on the 43 pass it was 6.00. So, my car is *** backwards. I thought a 4 hole was supposed to improve low end? Oh, by the way. I pulled the spacer off, and went 6.46. put it back on and went 6.43 again. But the 60 picked up with it off. It is a tapered 4 hole, and yes I had the taper facing down. Also wierd, it sounds like I have a blower at idle. Has a slight whistle in certain throttle positions.

If its whistling, might be leaking??? I never had any luck with a 4 hole, either open or divided worked best for me

nah, it aint leaking I checked. It whistled years ago when i tried it on another combo, but later found out it was upside down. lol. It whistles thru the carb, and you dont feel any air sucking around it. I checked that. It works......but just works slightly backwards from what i heard. I have a 2 inch open, but dont think it will fit under my hood.

didnt jet up any, because I am still finding the right jetting. I always read with a 4 hole you gain bottom end? Oh well....it stayed on. I have 95 jets square now. Here is my theory: if the power valve richens approx 8-10 jet sizes, then when I pulled the valve and blocked it and went up 6 sizes and the car picked up et and mph, then maybe i was too rich, so maybe i still need to jet it down? Make sense?I guess the only way to tell for sure is yank it, jet down to say 91s and see if it picks up or slows down.

My car cruises better with a spacer and seems to increase low end signal to my cars. My car went 6.4 at 105 with a 1.37 60 foot with no spacer on the nitrous, with a 1 inch that I hand ported that is a 4 hole, went 1.4 60, but still a 6.4, yet ran 106 mph last outing. Unfortunately last outing I didn't make enough passes to really back that up, but itis very well beat my previous best ET at 6.4 with a worse 60, but I don't calculate all the difference in DA and all that. Which does make a big difference for some cars.

On my old school 406 I tried a 1" 4-hole...1" open....2" open.....none helped and never tried the tapered
Every combo is different.

My 406 in my 68 Camaro had much better drivability with the home ported 2" 4 hole spacer. It made a very noticeable difference in throttle response . I cant remember if it made any difference at the track. I would always change 10 things between track trips when Id make the 80 mile round trip to the Dollar in that car.
Yea , your car seems to be backwards looking at the time slip. I think you are on the right track, looking at the jetting with the 4 hole. I think you will find the torque in that spacer with a few adjustments.
