mines pretty rich after the burnout when I clean it out, but when it leaves, no black smoke to speak of.

Maybe I should ask Santa for an SV-1 ?

Now back to reality....
Need to take a closer look at what I have....and make it work.

What carb are you using such a large jet in? Are you running alcohol?

He sent a idle and rev video. Before it was cutting out and now the pump shot is making it come to life.

950 ultra hp. I was even told by jmarkaudio on yb to block all pv and start at 95, he said these new ultras don't have a very good signal. I run pump gas.

pump worked wonders. before, if I barely tipped in, it would ****, backfire, and die if I held it there.

got a kit, but didn't use the arm that came with the kit because the squirter wouldn't shoot as soon as I cracked the primary. not sure what was up with that, but I kept the arm that was on my 30cc pump.

I found out that I have a 50cc pump on the secondary....didn't know that lol. so now I have a 50cc on the primary with the brown cam, and a 50cc on the secondary with a pink cam.

my question...is there any reason to change the secondary back to a 30cc???? if it has a pink cam with either diaphragm, it seems like the pink cam would push the exact amount of fuel no matter which accelerator pump was used. teach me something! i'm coming from the EFI world and this carb stuff is exciting to me. all I did was back the idle screws on each corner out 1.5 turns, set the float and cranked it. cant wait to get my wideband on this thing. it's loaned out to a buddy now while he tunes his magnacharged ls2.

here is a quick vid

I'd be willing to try this method too...I have a wideband, and this stuff is new and fun at this point. just gotta figure out what the hell a discharge nozzle is

yesterday I didn't know what a accelerator pump was, or how to set the float/pump arms.....anything basically. I just knew I had a carb that didn't work lol. at this point I need the easy cheap fixes that will get it running damn good. once I get the basics i'd be more than willing to dive into the fine tuning aspect of carbs. at this point the 50cc pump did the trick perfectly.

Well hopefully once you get the wideband on there and tune the intermediate circuits it will allow you to take the 50 cc pump and big squirters back off.

Hey, if you guys were really paying attention you noticed I skipped the last couple of intake discussions. From now on any intake/cam question will be given the approved LS1TECH carb forum answer of Edlebrock 2216 and RPM performer. No sense fighting it anymore. Street = dual plane, Strip = single. Figure that way there will just be that many more slow cars out there I can beat.

I was gonna skip this discussion too but contributed for two reasons. First is because I followed the same advice from this site when I first got started. 50 cc pump, hollow screws, brown cams, massive nozzles, basically just dump enough gas on the floor of the intake and let the motor pick up what it needs. Realized this is very easy way to tune a carb to run WTFO.

But after some time running that way I realized it doesn’t do much for normal driving. An accel pump just doesn’t do much when the throttle is just lightly moved. Then there was always a handful of guys on here who didn’t need the bigger pumps. Something didn’t connect.

So no problem. If you want to be one of those guys who tunes a carb only through bolts ons like jets and accel pumps but are afraid to touch an intermediate circuit, then hey, no problem. 2 out of 3 circuits tuned right isn’t bad. Just always stay in the throttle and it’s all good. I mean after all, “that’s what the car wants”.

The other reason I contributed is a personal fault, but the only way to learn is to ask questions. Sometimes if you challenge peoples line of reasoning it forces them or someone else to explain things in a way that finally makes sense. You wouldn’t believe the number of people I irritated about steam vents before I got that one straight in my head. Thank you John McGraw.

Don't be mad John. Just having some fun. I tease Zone about his fascination with the Edelbrock cams too. All for fun.

No worries. Thought some people might get a laugh.

By the way, if the OP is running a 31 squirter than rant aside I really doubt you need the bigger pump.

yeah i'm running 31 squirters on front and rear. i would have to snap the throttle to get it to rev....if i barely cracked the primary it would **** on itself...backfires, and kill the engine if i held it there.

i'm not opposed to looking into your method of tuning a carb and then decide for myself. i'm still stumbling myself through the basics though. everything zane has said to do has worked beautifully so far. i haven't put a wideband or even a vacuum gauge on it yet. hell i don't even know what my timing is set at. it's a used MSD 6012 with the #6 chip in it.

Well, the way he says you make the carb work without a larger accelerator pump is the absolute correct way.

I will tell you this, if it works, don't fix it. And the 50cc works and has never done anything but solve my stumble. On top of that, I just don't feel like spending time drilling and what not to not need a larger acc pump. If you do it the right way, more power to you, and it is a great option.

And I need to swing by and throw a tune in there for you.
