I'll bet that Edelbrock was forced to do this to fit the O rings in there. they should have made it flat for paper gaskets

Still can't believe this, does anyone know if the o-ring is the same size o-ring as used with the L92 victor junior?

You dont use a gasket when you use the o-rings. The manifold should fit flush to the heads

Lol, I thaght you meant the paper intake gasket.
Yeah the missing head gaskets will make a difference. Hard to judge if it will be enough.

Lol, he missed the "head" part. I think he needs to throw head gaskets on there and try again.

I don't think it will still fit even with the head gaskets

Looks like they could have moved the o-ring so it was actually centred around the port, and had less casting hanging out that far.

I am guessing no one has had similar issue with their vic junior?

my L92 victor jr fit flawlessly even after cutting .050" from the heads, and using a .040" gasket. port alignment was excellent also

We had to call Edelbrock directly and talk to an engineer and he said they had a shelf full of 4500 flange intakes. Everyone else we talked to said they didn't have any. It was kind of odd. Then called Jegs and name dropped the engineer's name and they overnited to out. Problem now, is its not fitting.

Big problem is, the pics I posted are a customers/friends and he doesn't feel comfortable taking apart his $10,000 long-block and having the heads clearance.
Why skimp on the intake if you have a 10k dollar build? There would be no hesitation on my part to buy MAST if I had a 10k motor.

Loosen the heads, rock them back slightly, pop the intake in place with a thick paper gasket, retorque the heads and the intake. How much does it lack fitting if you try to slide it in? If its minimal, touch it up before you drop it in so the heads will pull all te way down.

Don't be mad at me but, NO. Bad idea. This is not wood you are working with here, this is cast metals.

well, If I had mine here, the heads would be clearanced, and done. It looks like thats all thats holding it up is the raised portion above the front and rear cylinders.

It was a joke , guys! The intakes need to be sent back to eddy for a redesign, period. No milling the intake face of the heads to make it work, or epoxying the O-rings, etc, etc. They screwed the pooch on this one, period.
