I actually have checked the signal wire coming back from the sensor to the box and when i crank the motor i get voltage. So that tells me its getting the signal. Heck i was in okc on wed. And thurs.

Yeah, but I don't have the box with me.

I am hoping to have mine started up next weekend.

Next Sunday is my birthday, so I am trying to get my truck ready for the races on Sunday as a present to myself.

Well crap...

Checked the weather forecast for next weekend at the track and of ALL the days for it to rain, it is calling for 90% chance.

I might get to race this thing before June.... If the weather quits being a dick...

The guy here local to me that is having the same problems said someone told him to get a 16 volt battery and hook the starter to the 16 volt post, but the electronics to the 12 volt post. Then the starter spins 33% faster and should allow the car to start easily.

I don't know though. I told him to wire the ignition box to a relay from the battery and a simple switch to activate the relay. Then the box gets all its power straight from the battery on higher gauge wire (12 gauge) and you can run a 30 amp fuse to the input of the relay.

Either way, good luck with yours, hopefully I wont have any issues with mine.

This might sound dumb to do, but here is what i did because i tried everything else. i got a new harness, had good grounds, check all connections, new 6010 box, new battery, then tried another new battery and hooked them in parrell. still no fire/spark unless i removed the plugs and it cranked super fast.......so....like i said i know this sounds dumb....but i wired JUST THE STARTER in series (24v) and the rest of the ignition in 12v. so basically if i burned anything up it was just a starter and nothing more. after turning it over for 1 sec. it fired up and syncronized. and now it fires on 12v everytime. i am pretty sure your problem is that the box won't syncronize with crank and cam. i have ran into this problems more than once and i have talked to MSD multiple times. they have great customer service i think but there 6010 box needs to syncronize at a lower rpm speed and it doesn't. anyways hopes this helps.

I had my 6012 on a relay originally and it caused all sorts of problems as the voltage dropped when cranking. Direct on the ignition switch is the way to go.

OP did you ever try a fast crank with the spark plugs removed?

To a point that makes sense. Maybe the trigger can't discern the long and short pulses at low rpm cause the gap in pulses is too long to determine the indexing gap from the rest.

We have had another member use a 16v battery to get his to work and it did. Pretty crazy problem there. I have used more 6010/6012 boxes than anyone I know and never had many problems I have read on here.

If you think about it the people coming here are looking for help cause its not working right. For every person with a problem there might be 100 boxes that work fine but this forum just happens to bring out all the problems, which i guess thats what its for.

I got the box back. I tried it again with the plugs in and no go so i pulled the plugs and put on jump charger amd still no fire. Msd said all my voltages were correct. So right before i started to get mad about the box only lasting a year and a half and say something i shouldnt he said he would warranty the box. So im going to send mine back to them and they will send a new one.

What a bunch of ****.....

He should have warrantied the box while it was there and sent you the new one back instead of wasting another 2-4 weeks waiting on the speed of bureaucracy!!!

I got mine up and running today. Hit the key and it popped off hard.. Scared the hell out of me. I was not expecting it to light off that fast!!!

LOL

Gotta swap the intake gaskets tomorrow to fix a vacuum leak, and I might have to go chase down a pair of gaskets for the needle and seat to try to fix that leak.

The first time I fired up a carbed LS, I said F a distributor and said I would avoid them from here on out. And now you know why.

Mine has started and run every single time even with the volt gauge showing 11.5 volts.

Cant figure out how to get alternator to turn on with reliable information.

I finally got the alternator working. Just in time to forget to put in the hood pin clips and have the hood blow up and destroy my windshield completely, not to mention bend up my roof a bit. I got almost all the dents out of the roof except the crease in the middle from the crease in the hood's centerline.

Did you get your replacement box back from MSD yet? It has been 9 days so far.
