Spoke with my machinist today and paid off the final sum. Engine should be back at my mates workshop today. Then we just need to throw in the cam, put my valvetrain components into the heads, put the heads on the block and fit the sump and finally the manifold. Sets me up for next year where I can finally bother sussing out a carb for my combo.
Machinist was happy with my rotating assembly and with some quizzing the engine will probably be limited to 7,200rpm, has 10.7:1 comp and should happily handle the 200shot I have laying around that I intend to throw up on it.
That's all for this side of the planet from me atm.

I'm really glad I was able to grow up during those times. It was such a more simpler time. People were real. What you saw was what you got. A mans word meant everything. Your neighbors were like family. No one hardly ever got divorced. Every family sat down at the table and ate together. Children actually played outside. Man did I miss anything. Lol

Very nice. Hey did you ever get back to the track and spray that bad boy? And if you did. How did you do?

So, then I started thinking about maybe some of their combo deals that have urethane where the control arm connects to the body and rod ends where the control arm connects to the rear end. I almost went that way.
In the end, I revisited what I do with the car 99% of the time which is cruise around on the street. I really did not want to make my nice street car into a rattle trap wanna-be race car. So, I just bought the urethane bushing control arms.

I over-thought it quite a bit myself. I was contemplating going to the Roto-Joint style deal for a long time, then I talked to the guys from UMI at the PRI show. They said they do not recommend the Roto-Joint for drag racing. Especially at higher power levels. They said the Roto-Joint stuff is for road course and precision handling scenarios. For drag racing they recommended their Teflon lined spherical rod ends.

Did the UMI guys elaborate on the subject of roto joints not being optimal for drag racing? Maybe they don't take well to high shock loads?
