Default Broken LS1Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold

So I am pulling my LM7 apart because I blew something in the bottom end. I came across a great deal on an LS1 so I am swapping it. As I was taking apart my engine, I found this!!!!! Look at the difference in size from the passenger to the driver side. Trying to talk with Edelbrock now, hopefully they will stand by there product. I sent them these pictures. Sucks it most likely is the reason it went lean and detonated causing something to break down low. This is costing me close to $2,000

There were several of those mis-cast/machined manifolds discussed here a couple years back. Prolly too long ago to get anything out of Edelbrock, but ya never know...

After talking with them for 2 days and sending them pictures/measurements, they are gonna replace the manifold. I am glad they are sticking behind their products and taking care of this one.

from the research I have done, this appears to only have happened on older casted intakes. This intake was bought from a shop, not directly through Edelbrock so who knows how long they had it sitting on their shelf.

Yup, back when the carbed intakes hit the market from eddy, we got one of the first batches on the 79 Malibu 6 liter we did. Warranty was no problem then. The replacement has been fine. That was a long time ago. Then my brother in law that we swapped a 5.3 in to his 85 TA, was a performer(Malibu was a Vic Jr), same thing happened and this was about 9 months ago. Car had been together a couple years. No way to tell if it was a old casting or new. He bought another and never bothered with tryin to warranty the old one.

At least out of all this, I have learned that I need to do a better inspection of parts, even coming from some of the best company's.
