Default New Heads, guess my ET

I have a cam only LQ4. MS3 cam, performer intake, 850 holley dp. I am puting on some 799 heads that have been milled .020. Mainly because I will be swapping to alcohol in a week or two and needed a bump in compression. I also added a moroso header evac kit. My current time is 7:07 with a 1.49 60ft in a 3000 pound car. I'm guessing my new ET will be a 6:85. About right ? What's y'all's guess ? Hoping to wind up in the 6:70's on alcohol.

You'll be gaining noticeable torque that's for sure.

Damn... Thats a hell of a 60ft for your setup...and you had stock 317's on it?

My ride is also 3000lbs, cam only LQ4 with untouched 799's on it.

Best 60 for me so far is 1.54 and 7.08 in the 1/8th.

What kind of car do you got? Suspension, tires??

1970 camaro, power glide, back halfed ladder bar with coil overs. 31x13 tires, 513 gears. Leaving off the 2 step and trans brake at 3100 rpm. Early 04 Lq4 with 317 heads from the salvage yard with 125,000 miles.

Well that will definitely get you a good 60!

My cam is custom but its very close to your MS3. You can see the difference in the way my car pulls after the 60 though probably due to the better heads(799 vs 317).

Here are my times to compare since our 1/8th mile times are so close.

1.54
4.54
7.08 @ 96.01
9.32 @ 108.49
11.23 @ 117.04

Put the 799 heads on that were milled .020 and the car went 7:01. Only picked up a half of a tenth from the stock 317's. Was pretty disappointed. Swapped it over to alcohol/methanol and the car woke up. Went 6:71 with a 1.401 60ft.

only real difference you will see swaping from 317 to 243s if you port the 243s.now that you run 6.70s i think with a good port job on the heads should put you in the 6.40s and quicker

.3 from fuel change ?

I'm thinking better/cooler air and a better 60' did more....Your compression change by milling the heads .020 isn't that great to need alcohol.

Could it have been a better carb or just tuned better ?

What was your old carb/intake Vs. new set-up ?

Old carb was a gas 850 holley. New carb is a 750 I pieced together for alcohol. Edelbrock performer dual plane intake. I needed alcohol to run consistent. Alcohol picked that 60ft up. 750 alky carb is not tuned near as good as my 850 was. Like I said I pieced it together from 3 different manufactures and it has a high idle I can't cure lol I've tried several carbs and different things all year to pick my time up and a 7:07 is all I could get it to do on gas and stock heads. Ran one night on the .020 cut 799 heads. It ran three 7:01 and a 7:04. First pass on alky 6:71, second pass on alky 6:71 then the rain came. I'm happy.
