If you like loud, freeflowing, stainless, also budget priced look at Gibson mwa (muffler with attitude) that muffler doesn't get brought up much, but I highly recommend taking a look at them. Prolly my favorite (loud/clean sounding) muffler around.. just my .3¢ wourth...

I went from 2.5" Flowmaster American Thunder kit that I ran for years.....to a 3" Flowmaster 1050 pipe kit and added Dynomax UltraFlos....sound below.

You could always get something relatively quiet like Borla ProXS or Magnaflows and then put a NOWEEDS diverter set up on it.

Flowmaster mufflers sound good on mid 90's mustangs that don"t make enough power for them to be a restriction. They are a terrible design that either restricts your exhaust or muffles nothing, depending on which series you buy.

The only Flowmasters that are restrictive are the 80 series crossflow designs, and that was because of internal routing to accommodate inlets and/or outlets on both ends.
Or you bought ones with wrong size inlets/outlets. The main difference between different series is the addition of Heimholz resonator chambers which do not affect flow at all.

I heard a lot of bad about FM's.... but in my test (full exhaust to no tails, to open headers...in that order) there was only a 1 to 1 1/2 tenths of a difference (guessing maybe the weight

Neither. Chambered mufflers are garbage. You want straight-through mufflers.

You are entitled to your opinion, one-sided and uninformed as it is.
Most Flowmaster gripes result from misapplication or being cheap mis-engineered cheap copies, of which there are dozens.
If you don't like the sound, that is subjective.
Properly spec'd, they perform as well as any of them.
Lots of straight thru mufflers are also garbage, so don't overgeneralize.

At no point in time have chambered mufflers ever been good, especially not universal aftermarket ones. They rely on sound wave resonance which means while they may soften tones at certain RPM, they will amplify tones at other RPM. If you are a car manufacturer, you can spend a little bit of time tuning them to your specific application because you will save a lot of money in manufacturing costs in the end - but that’s all they’re for, cost saving, and they present way too much back-pressure in any type of performance application.

11.3's and didn't see what I hear a lot of people saying on my test
Best of 10.9's on the old 2.5" system.

No runs on the 3" w/ Ultraflo yet....but doubt I'll see anything... sounds better to me though.

Total BS, but your unfounded opinion.
I've had Flowmasters on 3 different vehicles, saw measurable performance improvements on all 3, and at no time was any sound amplified over that of no muffler, as you state WILL happen.
The air you exhale is quite hot....
