Putting a LT1 into a 98 camaro
I have a 98 v6 camaro with a blown 3.8. I also have a 96 Z28 with a good LT1. I want to take the LT1 and install it into the 98 camaro. What would I have to do to make this possible? Thanks in advance.

Do whatcha want but why not buy a ls1 for not that much more money? Sure the lt1 would work but why not put a 98-02 motor in it to make it realistic? A lt1 in a 98 and people would always ask or wonder why. Do it right or dont do it at all. Heck that 3.8 v6 is prolly just as fast as the lt1. Ha Ha

oocamry, words of a true idiot. do ir right or dont do it? Not sure how going from a v6 to an lt1 he already has is a step in the wrong direction..
The O.p has an lt1 powered car, and a v6 98 camaro, not an ls1, maybe the lt1 car is crashed and he wants to put the motor into the nicer ( im assuming) 98
on a side note i cant wait for for 700+hp build to be done.. as 00camry said its not much faster then a 3.8, its not the golden ls motor but should get out of its own way

phill just put the front end of the ls car on the lt car lol makes for a hell of alot easier job. but you need the wiring harness, ecu, motor tranny. im pretty sure they are the same motor mounts

im not saying lt1's are junk, i just think for the money it takes to make one mean or to even get it even with an ls1 you could have something better.
ill tell you why i feel this way. my buddy has a 93 all forged 355 lt1 with pulleys, wires, headers, a hot cam and minor head work and some other little stuff and we run dead even (my mods in sig). he has put a lot of money into that thing and he has said from the first day he got it running and test drove it. "i wish i would have saved the money and bought an ls1" his car could also use a better tune and maybe thats it, but my experience with them is they arent worth messing with.
sorry that heats you up glock but thats just my .02. im sure there are nice and mean lt1s out there i am just not a fan and there is my reasoning. also great work on your build.

There is nothing wrong with the LT1, especially if it is already paid for. Personally I would swap the front end and interior, seems easier than trying to swap from a v6 to an LT1. I love these threads that people start and then never return to.
