I think that both Magnaflow & Hooker make a stock replacement
muffler that flows well.
You would see a larger power gain if you buy a complete cat-back
instead of the muffler though. The cat-back systems use 3" pipe,
instead of the stock 2.75".

I like my stock CME muffler and it's supposed to be
a not-bad flowing one.
If you didn't have the cats, you'd probably find the
CME muffler pleasantly loud. I used to think it was
too quiet, but after cam and headers / ORY, it's
just right. Not "ticket me please" loud, but plenty
raucous when you get on it.
I think you should put a cam and let that louden
it up for you.
Getting the CME tips free of the back-piping is
going to be a bitch, for what that's worth. You
may need to plan on having the bells welded
back together when the web between them gets
cracked by Muffler Bubba.
