4th Gen Camaro Production Breakdowns
#22
A big thanks to JohnnyBs98WS6Rag for taking the time to compile this data.
As others have asked, we often look for how many of a specific configuration were built. We've all see dealers and owners advertise "1 of only xxx built with (insert whatever combination of colors/options)."
Does anybody know how to run these searches to figure this out?
Personally, I'm on the hunt for a mint Bright Rally Red 2002 SS Hardtop A4 with Black Leather. From JohnnyBs98WS6Rag's PDF, I can gather that there were only 382 2002 A4 Hardtop SS's produced in all colors so I'm really looking for a needle in a haystack. I'm just curious how many of the exact car I want were ever built.

Sorry to bring a thread back to life a year later, but..
I'm about to buy this Camaro tomorrow, and it's not even listed on these production charts. What I'm looking at is a 2002 Camaro SS 35th Anniversary M6 in Navy Blue Metallic with a HARDTOP. According to these production numbers, every single 35th Anniversary M6 had t-tops as an option, but I saw this car and it's all legit. The guy still has the window sticker, the SLP birth certificate (it's a "345 HP" SLP model that has signatures on the hood and shock tower as well as a plate on the passenger side of the engine,) and every piece that came with the car from the dealership except for the wheels and the stock suspension.
As much as I want t-tops, this car seems too hard to pass up, please help.
Was the list made slightly inaccurate? Am I just being paranoid? If not, what is the true rarity of this car that I'm about to buy? I haven't found another source that lists how many hardtop 35ths are out there, if any.

AaronMC, did you end up buying the car? I think you are confused or the seller.... If you have are looking at a Navy Blue Metallic, that is option code 28U on the Build Sheet. They produced 482 that were equipped with the 6-Speed. If you're simply calling it a "35th Anniversary" because of the dash plaque above the radio, you are misled. Every single Camaro had that plaque installed.
If it was a true 35th Anniversary Edition, it would be red. That option was an appearance package and you could not get it in any other color. Nor could you change the wheels, it came with 35th Anniversary Wheels. It also had embroidery done on the headrest of the front seats, along with 35th Anniversary floor mats.
I happen to own a 2002 Navy Blue Metallic SS that was equipped with the 345HP Center Mount Exhaust, Bilstein High Performance Suspension Upgrade, Auburn High Torq Differential, 10-Spoke Chrome Wheels, and the SS Grille. Not all SS's came with all those options.
I hope that clears some things up. As for breaking down the numbers from SLP, I do not think anyone has that. At least I've never been able to find that information...

My apologies for neglecting the Camaro folks over here. I rarely visit this sub-forum. Figured I'd clear up some of these lingering questions.
RPO 1LE was no longer available as a factory option after '99. A "1LE" parts package was available through SLP however thru '02, this it not reflected in the RPO decal though. You'll need to check w/ SLP on the 1LE breakdown for '02.
Of the 948 '98 SS coupes w/ AT, 18 were SGM, 728 had T-tops, and 127 had Taupe leather interior. You'll need to check CompNine to determine how many had that combination.
Of the 2569 '00 SS coupes w/ AT, 429 were hardtops, 451 were pewter, 322 had black cloth, 13 had flame red cloth, 174 had dark pewter cloth. You'll need to check CompNine to determine how many had that combination.

Of the 4811 '02 SS coupes w/ M6, 661 had hardtops, 232 were white. You'll need to check CompNine to determine how many had that combination.

And I wanted to know if this is a rare production Camaro or was there quite a few of them made?

Johnny, thanks for the breakdowns you have created and that you update them. When I was researching my Firehawk book, GM Heritage sent them to me as a reference. Would love to connect on the 2002 info someday.
Lots of owners asking question about the breakdown of year _+ body + colour + transmission + interior. I've done that for the Firehawks. It's in my book. Starting to improve the Camaro SS registry for a future much bigger project to do that.
Have been looking at the Camaro 30th SS production numbers in detail as a starting point.

Thanks Maplehawk. I was somewhat constrained by what was contained within CompNine's database and the amount of spare time I had to extract the breakdowns. I would've like to have gone further, but as you know, the more "combination" detail that is desired, the effort grows exponentially (or maybe its by the square?). I had done the Firebirds first, and when I did the Camaros I went a little further (breaking down not only SS's by transmission, but Z28s too). I had planned on going back to my Firebird data to break down the non-WS6 T/As & Formulas by transmission, but by that time CompNine had changed their database GUI and was charging money for unfettered access. That's when my enthusiasm petered out. I was also frustrated by the fact that I found some discrepancies in the CompNine database that appeared to be missing vehicles compared to some other (less detailed) sources of information I had; while I tried to highlight these discrepancies the best I could, I always wished I had access to GM's VIS database "gospel". My breakdowns are not perfect, but they are better than a lot of sources of info I've stumbled across.

All SSs (RPO WU8) also contained the Z28 RPO code, so there is no differentiation there. All SSs were converted by SLP, and all 35ths were red and had T-tops.
There were a total of 8338 SS coupes built in '02, 1971 of these were 35th Anniversary models (RPO Z4C). Of these, 1037 had the 6-speed trans (MN6).
Of the 1037 M6 35th coupes, 841 came w/ the Hurst Shifter (BBS), 615 had the 12-disk CD changer (U1S), 638 have traction control (NW9), 944 had additional SLP options (Y2Y).

Thanks for the information and all the effort.
