Default How to identify a real SS and a clone?

Whats up everyone I am not new I guess you can say i have been waiting for the right time. I Am looking at car that is said to be a black 2000 SS camaro but something does seem right about it. Did a car fax and it came back as 2000 Z28. So are SS camaro's Z28and modded to SS later? If so can any one give me any tip to tell if it is a real SS or not?

1) Do not worry about the fact that the Carfax reports the vehicle as a Z28; this happens to all SS Camaro's. The reason behind this is that some Z28 models were chosen to be sent to SLP for the upgrade.

2) The quickest identification tool is the door jamb sticker. "WU8" is the SS RPO code, and should be listed alongside all of the cars other options.

3) Post the VIN # here and we can look up which options the car came with, including if it's a real SS.

WU8 on driver side door. If it had any slp options they would be on a sticker inside the passenger side door.

All RPO WU8 "SS" cars also had RPO Z28. The only V8 Camaros that didn't have Z28 were the B4Cs.

I've found the tire size to be the easiest way. If you see 245/16 - Z28, 274/17 -SS

I would like to find out too. I bought mine used and both the stickers on both doors are completely worn. The girl I bought it from didn't know too much about cars other than they have four wheels. Would be nice to know exactly what it came with. VIN 2G1FP22G112112469

WU8 is the ss package. That is the easiest way to tell...unless ofcourse the person stole an SS door but come on...
