They typically ran low 15's high 14's stock from the factory. Think Motor Trend pulled a 15.2 or 15.3 out of them. What you have to remember is that at the time Ferrari 348's were running low 14's to high 13's and ONLY making 312 HP.

It's not like today where a typical family mid size is making more than 250 horses. And Japan hadn't even come out with there twin-turbo sixes yet, that could compete with the LT1's. I had a 91 with a reworked 305 that suprised more than one LT1 Z28 and a lot of fox body's.

Good luck. Actually if you built those 305's for torque they could suprise many an LS1 in the 1/4. Though they'll run out of oxygen about 90-95 and that could be your top speed.

Aside from the cross fire LU5, the L03 was the weakest fuel injected V8 offered in a Camaro. One thing that is certain, is that they run forever. It's like TBI engines in the full size trucks... just keep going and going.

As mentioned, 15's in the 80's traps.

Oh, yeah.....mine is a 187K currently and still going strong. Never been rebuilt, internal motor has never been touched. All on conventional oil I might add. I did put an intake gasket on but that's to be expected. I can't kill this car!

GM rated them at 170HP, 225TQ. That motor replaced the LG4 Carb'd 305 for the '88 model year. High 14s seem like LB9 territory, not LO3. I have a Hot rod ragazine article from '88 that puts an RS 305 TBI at 15.7s, its TPI Formula cousin in the mid/lower 15s.

Agree -- there is no way a L03 is going 14's.

My 92 rs with the powerhouse L03 went 15.4s with headers, exhaust and open element air cleaner. Mid to high 15s is usually what they run stock.
