Default Camaro build

Hey guys. Fairly new to the Lsx world. My brother and I decided to start a project. We are in the process of converting a 02 camaro to a drag car. Just thought I would post a thread to show progress and pick up some pointers along the way. As I siad before I am new to the ls platform. With that siad, constructive criticism is ok but please keep the negative comments. My brother and are are just looking to build a decent track car as inexpensive as we can and go out and have a blast.

We pulled the ls1 out and 4 of the conecting rods were snapped, on of the rods poked a hole in the block under the motor mount. So we scrapped that and decided after a little research to do a 5.3 with a carb set up and MSD 6010 controller.

We are going to use a comp cams I can't remember the grind right off hand. I think it is a 533/227 I will get the specs when I get home. We are going to run a 750 holley and a turbo 350 but trans. And replace the rear axle with a 8.8 ford with 410 ratio. We are taking the tourqe arm out and adding a turnbuckle style set up.

We finished our switch panel and gauge panel last night. I used a meter and found the wires I need to run the factory fog lamp switch for the ignition. And the car came with some kind of traction control so we are using that rocker switch for the momentary start switch.

The intake came in last night. We are just using a old carb to do the mock up for cutting the cowl panel.

Everything seems to fit ok. We have a few more trial run things to do and a little wiring to finish up and we should be shoving a cam and springs in the motor and installing it for good. We picked up a couple turbo 350 trans. We are gonna rebuild one for now to meet our needs and install it very soon.
