Default car wont start.....help please

OK I'm having trouble figuring out why my car won't start I have replaced starter and starter relay ignition relay clutch switch added a new motor to body ground had a new key made withe the correct resistance for my car and it is still just clicking once when I try to turn it over and all my dash lights go out and I have tried to short out the the starter to get it to crank and everything went haywire on my dash I have racked my brain on this for a couple months now any advice would be greatly appreciated and if you have any other question feel free to ask

You changed the battery before you bought all that other stuff right ??

Could be a bad starter out of the box. It happens.

Take the starter back out and have it bench tested.

Are you sure you have the starter hooked up correctly. It should have a ground to the block, power wire from the battery and a purple trigger wire attached.

Yea there is only 2 leads on the starter solenoid that can be attached I've worked on cars long enough to know how to fully attach a starter when nothing on the car has been cut

Ok, I did some digging and it sounds like it could possibly be a bad ground. Do you have access to an OBD2 Scanner? Humor me and plug it in to your OBD port and try and start the vehicle. Let me know if it does. I know it sounds weird but try it and let me know.

Also just double check to make sure the battery posts are tight on the positive and negative side.

No I don't have access to one or I would try it and I think the problem has been found turns out there continuity on the positive side on the battery and motor didn't know it till me buddy brought his ohm meter over and read it hopefully that is all of the problem

I had this issue when the ground and power leads were touching on my starter. Try loosening up the nuts and confirm that the purple or the red wires are not making contact with the starter body/ground.

Thanks 97camaroguy when I hook my starter up I didn't completely clock the positive cable all the way and it was allowing it to send power through it
